The Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Jets rivalry is arguably the biggest in the NFL right now. The showdown is set to take place this Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET on MetLife Stadium. That’s the same home field where legendary Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles tendon and had to be carted off on a stretcher.

After Rodgers was diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon, there was speculation that he might retire or return to the NFL. However, Rodgers dropped a bombshell during an interview on ‘the Pat McAfee show,’ hinting at a possible return. So, will Rodgers return to face Patrick Mahomes on Sunday? What’s the truth?

When Aaron Rodgers got hurt, his backup quarterback Zach Wilson took the lead for the New York Jets. But it looks like Wilson is still in his  2022 form. So, to back up the Jets, they need a strong quarterback to compete with the young GOAT Patrick Mahomes. Wilson is a great player, but his current form might not be good enough, especially when he is facing Mahomes. So, is A-Rod going to play this time around? The answer might be yes or no.

The possibility of yes arises from the fact that Rodgers’ injured body is recovering well and quickly. Moreover, he believes in the quote by former basketball player Kevin Garnett, “anything’s possible.” So, there could be a chance for his return. On the other hand, the answer might be “no,” but that’s only because he’s still recovering from his injury and hasn’t been cleared medically to play. Even if he doesn’t play, Rodgers is still with the Jets, and as he once said that he is still in contact with the team on a daily basis, especially with quarterback Wilson, to give them his advice, and guidance.

Not only this, he recently offered advice for the Jets, stating that the Jets “need to grow up a little bit” and “hold our poise a little bit better.” He added, “The team — losers of two straight — must do a better job of handling negativity.” In short, whether Rodgers will be on the field in Week 4 or if he’ll be on the sidelines in a “virtual” game for the team, he will be there for the Jets. And if he does stay home due to a lengthy rehab process, the big question is whether he’ll make it back for the playoffs.

On a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, host Pat McAfee and co-host A. J. Hawk asked Rodgers about a possible return this season. Rodgers said at the time that he couldn’t comment on anything at this time, but he did say that anything is possible. This means Rodgers is planning to be in the playoffs, but his team, the Jets, will need to win to make it happen.

In addition, as Rodgers’ body recovers quickly, he’ll need time to pass all the medical exams, rehab, and practice with the team, and when he’s all set and ready to go, Rodgers will lead the Packers into the playoffs. If he’s 100 percent fit this Sunday, then there’s no stopping him, and it’s likely to be one of the fastest recoveries in NFL history.

All in all, the injured Aaron Rodgers will have a major impact on the mind of the reigning champion Patrick Mahomes and his squad at MetLife whether he’s on the field or not. Well, if fans recall Mahomes’ edited tweet, “Hate the man…Praying for the best” moment, Rodgers would surely make him limp off the field. Do you think he’ll show up this week?
