With just 3 minutes left for the match to end, Trevor Lawrence crashed to the ground. He was brought down by the Indianapolis Colts’ DE, Samson Ebukam. His left leg seemed to twist a bit and he was seen clutching his knee before leaving the field. With their QB down, and on the injury report since Monday, the bad news doesn’t just end there for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The latest report featured 5 more casualties that could possibly rain on the Jaguars’ parade. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft has not missed a single game in his NFL career. “I’m going to do everything I can to be out there,” Lawrence said, via ESPN. But will the other injuries let coach Doug Pederson down as they face off against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football?

The Week 7 injury report released by the Jaguars, featured CB Tyson Campbell who remains under scrutiny due to a hamstring injury. WR Zay Jones had been nursing a knee injury and DNP on Monday and Tuesday. Other players who skipped practice on both days and could be a concern for the Jaguars going forward, include OT Walker Little and Guard Brandon Scherff.

They are recovering from knee and ankle injuries respectively. However, it is not all doom and gloom for the Jags as DT DaVon Hamilton, who had been nursing a back injury, participated fully on both days. If Lawrence does not start on Thursday in the New Orleans game, C. J. Beathard will fill in for him.

He has a 2-10 record as a starter in the league and this will be his third season with the Jaguars. Things don’t look very promising. Doug Pederson also said that Lawrence’s status is simply “day-to-day”, as of now.

In the interaction with the media, he had also said that Lawrence should have just let himself be sacked rather than make the play. But he was too aggressive and ended up injuring himself. How does the other side look?

New Orleans Saints starting lineup littered with injuries

Over at the Saints’ camp, things are really bleak with 12 players on the injury list! The highlights include LB Demario Davis, which would be a big blow for the defense. New Orleans was also down several key members of the starting lineup. Ryan Ramczyk (concussion), James Hurst (ankle), and Andrus Peat (groin) were limited participants or skipped practice altogether.

It is going to be an uphill battle for the injured players to play as soon as Thursday for an early-week kickoff. The Jags are on a three-game winning streak. They have momentum on their side and will be looking to add another feather to their cap with the New Orleans victory.

The Saints are currently 0.500, while the Jaguars are 0.667, and are at the top of the AFC South leaderboard. It looks unlikely that the Saints will be able to overcome the Jaguars with their starting lineup considerably weakened with all the injuries. But then what is a game of football without all its drama and surprises?
