Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes‘ face-off was something almost every NFL fan anticipated. Alas! An injury ceased all the expectations. The star QB Rodgers suffered an Achilles tear and had to be replaced. This replacement again ignited the flames of excitement among NFL fans, as now Mahomes would face none other than A-Rod’s mentee — Zach Wilson. Amid the hard-fought victory, QB Mahomes had an upsetting revelation for fans.

While Mahomes and Co. blazed guns at the New York Jets, who had recently recovered from a defeat, the men in green turned the tables soon. From a 17-point difference to a 23-20 finish, the prowess of both teams was clearly evident. The Kansas City Chiefs finally came on top in the fourth quarter, but captain Mahomes laid his heart out in the bare for the world after the game.

In an interview post the match, the 28-year-old QB lamented before the media: “Obviously we didn’t play… to our level in that kind of that second, third quarter.” While it was commendable that the 2X Super Bowl winner did not hide behind excuses for the team’s performance, he, in his post-game presser, also stated a harsh reality that fans and the media needed to hear.

Mahomes went into the nature of their victory before the media when he stated how things won’t always come easy for any team in the NFL. “It’s not always going to be pretty for four quarters,” Mahomes revealed to the media after the game. The star QB stated how all four quarters need to be looked at from the lens of grabbing the right opportunity along with keeping the eye out for winning.

Besides talking about his team, Mahomes had much to say about his rival on the Jets team, Zach Wilson. While everyone expected Patrick Mahomes to overshadow the young star in his performance, Wilson showed great control to gain even more touchdowns than the Chiefs’ captain.

“He played his tail off. He battled. We have a good defense, and he made a lot of big-time throws into the windows and down the field,” said Mahomes in praise of the 24-year-old after the game. The reigning NFL MVP’s words will be an indirect boost of motivation after the harsh treatment earlier this season.

Amidst tough team performance, Zach Wilson steals the show

Earlier this season, in the Week 1 game, the New York Jets’ costly acquisition, Aaron Rodgers, was sidelined for an entire season with an Achilles tendon injury. Backup QB Zach Wilson was thrust into guiding the Jets throughout the season. Just after a couple of less-than-impressive games, the football fans were quick to demand results from the rookie QB.

However, amidst the tough times, one of the best QBs in the game, Mahomes, had praised the 24-year-old after meeting him at MetLife. Wilson had his best game of the season, going 28 of 39 for 245 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a 2-point conversion that tied the game at 20 in the third quarter.

Young Zach Wilson would love to capitalize on this form and get his team back to winning ways. Amidst this, while the Chiefs are still one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, they have some work to do to return to their dominant form. They will face another tough test next week when they visit the Minnesota Vikings, who are coming off a close loss to the Detroit Lions.
