Like Russell Wilson, Jalen Hurts, for Lamar Jackson, the criticism keeps coming no matter how good one does. Russell Wilson’s team may not be performing at their best, but he sure is getting used to the Broncos’ way. Jalen Hurts has led the Eagles to a 5-1 season start. The Baltimore Ravens are at the top of their division, led by Lamar Jackson. However, a recent comment by sports journalist, Stephen A. Smith may have overshadowed all of that. What was more astonishing was how he walked back on his last week’s statements about Jackson.
After a rather rude comment about Jackson’s performance by an anonymous NFL executive, it was Stephen A. Smith who first blasted Jackson on the show First Take. But then he stepped back when confronted by the ever-hilarious Kimberley Martin. However, his co-host Martin did not take kindly to it and defended Jackson. The question here is, does Lamar truly deserve the criticism?

Stephen A. Smith posed a provocative question to Ravens fans, “Are Ravens getting their money’s worth from Lamar?” In April of this year, Lamar Jackson signed a $260 million extension that made him the highest-paid NFL history for some time, before being eclipsed by Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow. He currently holds the title of most fumbles in the 4th quarter in the NFL at 11. “He also leads all NFL players with 7 fumbles!” Stephen screamed at the camera. However, Kimberly Martin would not let her co-host trash Lamar.
“That was trash, bro,” Martin fired back in a different episode. Jackson had thrown the ball with a team member in the end-zone for sure shot TDs. But his WRs Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor disappointed Ravens fans and their QB by dropping those passes. That’s 21 points gone just like that! It came as a shock for Martin because Stephen had previously complained about how the Ravens weren’t paying Jackson enough. “This kid does more with less. Consistently.” Does he?

How Lamar Jackson stacks up!
In the current season, Jackson has a total of 5 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and a total of 3 sacks. Not exactly the best stats. But it seems he is not the problem as his team has fallen victim to dropped passes and missed cues more than what can be acceptable for a team that hopes to play in the playoffs. And a team is as good as its weakest player. No matter how many TD passes Jackson throws, if his WRs and TEs drop them, it’s lost points.
On Sunday Night Live, the Ravens will host the Detroit Lions at M&T Bank Stadium. The Lions are 5-1 and are at the top of the NFC North division. With 7 players on the injury list and almost all of them from the defensive side, it looks like an uphill battle for the Ravens. The Lions have momentum on their side, having won each of their last 4 games. Will the Ravens capitulate to the Lions or will they manage to clinch a difficult victory? The game kicks off at 1:00 PM EST.
