It’s no secret that Bill Belichick is a respected figure not only for the Patriots and Bostonians but for the entire NFL world. The 71-year-old has been at the helm of The New England Patriots for 24 years now. But with an ordinary pre-season this year and an abysmal start to the season, many are wondering if his time is up.

QB Mac Jones is also in the limelight but for all the wrong reasons. It was known that he is no Tom Brady. And while no one is, the 15th overall pick for the Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft has lacked the game-defining attitude and tenacity that is required from a QB, one that matches the caliber of the New England Patriots. After the humiliating defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Saints, something must give. Will it be the QB or the respected GM and head coach?

After suffering the worst defeat in the last 28 years the previous week at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys, The 38-3 loss signified that nothing is working for Belichick. It’s rarely possible that defense and offense both end up lacking to this level in a game. The embarrassment at the hands of the Saints this Sunday added to the list.

The Saints ran riot at the Gillette Stadium, scoring at will and stopping any advances from Mac Jones and Co. When the dust finally settled, the scoreboard displayed 0-34. Once again, a complete failure of any compartment of the Patriots team. The lessons learned after the loss against the Cowboys, if any, were quickly forgotten. With only one win this season, the Patriots and Belichick have their backs against the wall.
