The Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos clashed at Arrowhead tonight, and the Chiefs left the field looking like battle-hardened conquerors, their jerseys stained with the Broncos’ metaphorical blood. It was a straight-up domination as the Chiefs notched their fifth victory of the season.

This rivalry has aged like fine wine. These divisional neighbors and their quarterbacks have been slugging it out for years. The Chiefs, riding high with four straight wins, sitting pretty at 4-1, while the Broncos, at 1-4, entered the ring with turmoil galore. Their defense was more leaky than a sieve, coughing up a league-worst 36.2 points per game. Unfortunately for the Broncos, their 2023 trajectory has gone off-course by a mile. It’s been a tough road, but the NFL drama continues, and who knows what’s next in this wild season?

Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs just made the Denver Broncos do the ‘turf kiss’ in an 19-8 shutout, leaving Russell Wilson‘s Broncos looking like headless chickens out there, desperately chasing interceptions and throwing passes with all the grace of a toddler’s first steps. The main problem? Lack of tuning. It’s like the Broncos forgot to dial in for the game. From a technical standpoint, they were spot-on, but there seemed to be some kind of ‘human tuning issue’ on the field. Wilson’s passes either missed their mark or got beautifully intercepted but the in-sync, top-form Chiefs.

Before this epic showdown, the Kansas City Chiefs had a jaw-dropping 15-game winning streak against the Denver Broncos, tied for the longest active streak in the NFL. Well, make that 16 now. You’ve got to rewind the clock all the way back to 2015 to find the last time the Broncos came out on top against the Chiefs. That’s eight long years! More so, this also marks Wilson’s first sub-100-yard game in more than five years.

Ouch. Looks like the Broncos need a serious game plan overhaul. Let’s see if they can flip the script next time. Maybe they can find a cautionary scare by taking a walk down a certain history lane?

Back in ’94, the Denver Broncos were in the same boat as this season, struggling with a dismal 1-5 record. They couldn’t even rack up 500 passing yards all season. In fact, their dismal performance had been jinxed by their late-season skid in 1993, extending their loss record and with head coach Wade Phillips and his team being shown the door.

Almost three decades on, the situation looks similarly dire for Denver. Fast forward to Week 7, and we’ve got the Kansas City Chiefs locking horns with the Los Angeles Chargers, while the Broncos aim for redemption against the Green Bay Packers on their turf at Mile High.
