Sean Payton and his team need to piece themselves together for their upcoming game in Week 6. The matchup is set to feature the Denver Broncos against the Kansas City Chiefs, with the game scheduled to kick off on Thursday, October 12 at 8:15 p.m. ET. So far this season, Patrick Mahomes’ Red Sea has earned a reputation as one of the strongest teams with a 4-1 winning record.

The Orange Crush, on the other hand, is 1-4 with a losing record, with a recent loss against the Jets. As the two teams prepare to take on GEHA Field at the home of the Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium, both will be hoping to make a winning addition to the scoreboard. But before the Week 6 showdown kicks off, Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos are dealing with some serious issues with players’ injuries.

Leading up to the Thursday matchup, the Denver Broncos unveiled their initial injury and practice report on Monday. It’s important to note that the Broncos didn’t practice on Monday. The injury report gives an estimate of how many players would have been on the field if there had been a practice. The only player on the injury report that wasn’t on the 53-man roster was DT D. J. Jones, who was listed as a “non-participant” due to a knee injury sustained in Week 5 against the Jets. Jones was limited in Sunday’s loss, playing only 12 of 65 snaps.

Jones, who signed a three-year, $30 million contract to start at defensive tackle, is a key player for the Denver offense because of his ability to disrupt the run game. But his recent injury status might affect Sean Payton’s defense in their game against Patrick Mahomes. Aside from Jones, the other players listed as limited include Center Lloyd Cushenberry III with a quad injury, defensive tackle Mike Purcell with a rib injury, safety Justin Simmons with a hip injury, and running back Javonte Williams with a quad issue. Outside linebacker Baron Browning, who remains on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform, was also listed as a limited participant due to a knee injury, similar to his status in the lead-up to Week 5.

Patrick Mahomes’ team is showcasing its reigning champion status this season by securing back-to-back wins. In the last game of Week 5, their entire team was available, with no players ruled out for the match at the U.S. Bank Stadium. However, this time, there is cause for concern among the Chiefs as star tight end Travis Kelce did not practice on Monday due to an ankle injury sustained in his last matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Alongside him, Nick Bolton (ankle), Matt Dickerson (knee), and George Karlaftis (hamstring) had limited practice. In addition to them, previously injured players, including Mike Danna (rib), Trent McDuffie (quad), L’Jarius Sneed (knee), Kadarius Toney (toe), and Drue Tranquill (knee), all fully participated in Monday’s practice.
