During a crucial game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Minnesota Vikings, a significant moment occurred in the first quarter. The Chargers’ top-notch defensive lineman had to leave the field due to an injury he sustained while making a critical tackle.

Joseph-Day’s neck injury 

Defense tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day stepped forward to bring down the Vikings’ running back, Alexander Mattison, leading to both players exiting the field. According to sideline reports, Joseph-Day is undergoing a neck injury assessment.

He voluntarily left the field and was promptly examined in the blue tent. He had been moved to the locker room for additional evaluations and was officially listed as questionable for a return few moments ago. 

Uncertain situation in Chargers’ defense line

At that moment, the Chargers and Vikings are tied at 10-14. Losing their starting interior defensive lineman is a major setback for the defense. With injuries piling up, his absence in the middle is particularly damaging, especially on early downs when the offense has both passing and running options available.

It might be worth keeping an eye on Morgan Fox and Nick Williams as they may see more action. Coach Staley seems to prefer lighter personnel, with Fox being used as an additional pass rusher.
