The news effectively brings an end to all the voices demanding Belichick’s dismissal. He has dragged them out from the bottom in the past and built a dynasty on himself. Amid the horror show surrounding the franchise currently, the coach tried to make a fresh start with the win against the Bills.

NFL Insider Ian Rapport revealed that the six-time Super Bowl champs had ‘quietly’ agreed to a multiple-year contract extension with Belichick. The godfather of modern-day Patriots, the team is not yet ready to let go of him. One of the two pillars of their success, Brady already bid goodbye to the franchise in 2019 and is retired now. In this situation, losing Belichick was never an option for the management. That’s why, they secured the deal with their head coach early in the off-season.

The story has only come out recently, at a very interesting time when Belichick’s career was facing several questions from the critics. However, his new “multi-year” contract with the Patriots has come as a game changer. Sports Analyst Ian Rappoport rightly said, “Now, contractually, he is locked up long-term.”

And the concern shouldn’t be much on when the contract was made because, well, that looks like a mandate to win. Well, in their recent game against the Bills, the Patriots’ last-second win over the Bills surely set the surprising stage, and it was the Mac Jones and the Patriots offense that worked the charm as they clinched victory at 29-25.

In the NFL match week seven, Belichick’s squad has defied all the odds to defeat heavy favorite Buffalo Bills despite a hot start. The home team clinched the lead early on in the game and did not give it up. The victory comes at a very crucial time when the team and Belichick himself are going through repeated scrutiny.

The Patriots might be the utmost grateful to the coach, but it’s not uncommon for franchises to end a deal prematurely and terminate a contract when things don’t go according to the plans. Record-chasing Belichick must have kept that in mind, and by doing so he has also entered the NFL all-time record book.

with his win over the Bills, Belichick becomes only the third coach in the league’s history to touch the 300-win mark, trailed by Don Shula (328) and George Halas (318). But that shouldn’t shift his focus as further fumbling can show Bill Belichick the Patriots’ exit gate before he officially attains the GOAT status. Knowing him, however, we are certain that Belichick has his blueprint ready for the season, and he will get out of the tough time. Just like he has done so many times in the past.
