The Indianapolis Colts announced that their quarterback, Anthony Richardson, will undergo surgery to fix his shoulder. This decision was reached after careful consideration by Richardson, his close circle, and the medical team. However, there’s a sense of history repeating itself, as the Colts had a similar situation with quarterback Andrew Luck, whom they drafted as the first overall pick in 2012.

Andrew Luck had a successful career but had to miss the entire 2017 season due to a shoulder injury against the Titans as well, which had a significant impact on him and his career. So, it’s a kind of deja vu for sure for the Colts team. The Colts, though, seem determined not to go through a similar experience with Richardson, especially considering concerns stemming from his college career.

There have been speculations that this injury and the subsequent surgery might prematurely end Richardson’s rookie season. Nevertheless, Jim Irsay, the team owner, maintained his belief in the young quarterback’s potential, stating, “We have every reason to believe that he can come back and be all of who he can be.

Irsay also recognized Richardson’s leadership within the team, noting, “If you look at the one on the shoulder injury, you can’t believe it happened. It’s just a normal tackle. You know, it’s not even a physical like Andrew’s tackle [when he injured his shoulder]. It happens, but it hurts to see his shoulder, the throwing shoulder, at so young.
