Ahead of the clash against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh made a significant statement on Fox News. He related the statement to the Jets reaching the “promised land” in the NFL. What’s more, Saleh pledged to get a tattoo to commemorate it. During the same interaction, the Jets HC revealed which player’s face he intends to have tattooed.

Surprisingly, it’s not the legendary footballer Aaron Rodgers. He is currently suffering from a torn Achilles, leading to his premature exit from the NFL season after playing just one game for the Jets.

The Jets player whose face Saleh will get tattooed?

This off-season, the Jets acquired star QB Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers for a whopping $75 million in a 2-year contract. With Rodgers joining the team, both the NFL world and the Jets had high expectations for this season. Many people anticipated the Jets reaching the playoffs or even being a potential Super Bowl candidate. A-Rod was seen as a significant upgrade over Zach Wilson, who had been struggling for a long time. However, with Rodgers’ exit from the season, Wilson had to step in Rodgers’ place.

Even though Wilson is struggling, HC Robert Saleh has faith in him. While talking to Fox News, he emphasized that if Wilson ‘Gets us to the promised land,’ he will get a tattoo of his face. When asked where he will get the tattoo, he replied, ‘All over my body.’ This surely was a joke, but it shows the high expectations he has for Wilson. Even though the Jets are not going strong, the team is somehow pulling through in Rodgers’ absence.

Wilson and team without Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is reportedly recovering faster than expected. Coach Saleh has indicated that he might join the team later in the year, but that possibility seems far-fetched. Until week 5, the Jets were 2-3 in the league. In week 6, they are going to face the Eagles, against whom they haven’t won a single game in the last 12 face-offs. The Jets have the third-worst defense in the NFL. If the team wants to reach the playoffs, they need to work on many departments.

Wilson is leading the team, but his performance is not up to the mark. He is inconsistent in his play, struggling to find his rhythm with the offense. Against the Buffalo Bills, he made some nice throws, and the Jets won that game.

But against the New England Patriots, Zach Wilson completed 18 of his 36 passes for 157 yards, and the Jets lost that match. Saleh has put his weight behind Wilson despite his poor performance in the league. However, if Wilson fails to improve his game, then the team will have no choice but to explore other options.
