The Kelce brothers are ready to shake up the sports world – first up was Jason Kelce, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center who crashed WrestleMania 40 and got his hands dirty! Now all eyes are on Jason’s superstar sibling, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, as the big tight end gives hints about following in his brother’s footsteps and jumping into the WWE ring. After the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII victory parade in KC, Travis was seen proudly sporting a gleaming gold WWE championship belt customized with the Chiefs‘ logo.
At that time, the three-time champ declared, “I don’t know if you see this belt, but man this belt’s got something on it. It’s got the heavyweight champions of the world, baby!” Travis Kelce did a bunch of interviews this week. Most of the questions were about football or his girlfriend, Taylor Swift. But a reporter asked Kelce what his wrestling name would be.

What do you think @RealNickAldis, can we get The Big Yeti on Friday nights? 😆

Without knowing about the old WCW character, Travis Kelce said he’d call himself “The Big Yeti.” That caught the attention of WWE’s social media team. They tagged “WWE SmackDown” boss Nick Aldis, who responded, “Let’s workshop the name, but love the energy.” You see, back in 1995 Ron Reis was a wrestler named The Yeti. He was supposed to be a big Sasquatch-type creature, but he ended up just looking like a mummy in a ninja costume. It was a pretty weird gimmick that didn’t last long.
In a candid chat with TMZ last April, Travis Kelce let his true colors show. “My guy George Kittle was at WrestleMania throwing clotheslines left and right, man,” he said. “It was awesome to see him go nuts, but I gotta get in on that action somehow, someway.”And the WWE Universe has taken notice, with Miz admitting months later, “I’m always sliding into Travis’ DMs, like ‘Hey, you’d be pretty darn good in the ring. I think you could do pretty well.'”
From Lawrence Taylor to Pat McAfee, the NFL-WWE crossover is a well-trodden path. And just like his contemporary George Kittle, the electrifying Travis Kelce seems primed to bring his larger-than-life personality and supreme athleticism to the squared circle. As the countdown to Mania 41 begins, the prospect of the Kelce brothers battling it out in both the gridiron and wrestling realms has fans chomping at the bit.

When the dust settled on WrestleMania 40, one of the biggest buzzes didn’t even come from the squared circle. Nope, all eyes turned to the stands, where retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce pulled a Stone Cold Steve Austin and crashed the party with a surprise appearance.
Kelce and his former Eagles teammate Lane Johnson made their presence felt, storming the ring during the match between Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik. The two beefy blockers started tossing the wrestlers around, helping Mysterio pick up the big win and sending the Philly faithful into a frenzy.

For Kelce, this was no mere cameo – it was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. The future Canton inductee is known for his outsized personality and flair for the dramatic, whether he’s shotgunning beers on the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade route or delivering shirtless, profanity-laced speeches that would make Randy Savage proud. So Kelce taking to the WWE stage and unleashing his inner “Stone Cold” came as no surprise to anyone.

Now the big question is, will we see Travis Kelce run it back at next year’s WrestleMania in his hometown of Philadelphia? “It would make complete sense,” said WWE superstar The Miz. Given Kelce’s love of showmanship and desire to entertain the Philly faithful, you can bet your bottom dollar he’ll be looking to steal the spotlight after his brother.
