When Aaron Rodgers said “anything is possible,” he meant it. When the New York Jets star joined the team, many speculated that he would take his new side to the Super Bowl for the first time after 1969. However, in his Jets’ debut this regular season, all these dreams faded. The matchup between the Jets and Buffalo Bills told the destiny lying ahead for the Jets.

Aaron Rodgers was sacked by Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd and suffered a complete Achilles tendon tear on his left leg. Soon, during the game, when he couldn’t stand in his position, everyone knew that something worse had happened with the legendary quarterback. He was then carted off the field and later ruled out of the season until complete recovery. And since then, Rodgers’ historic, ongoing recovery has been making headlines.

After Aaron Rodgers was ruled out for the season due to his Achilles injury, everyone speculated the day of his return. On the one hand, some wished for his early recovery, while some even thought of his never coming back to the gridiron. However, while destiny stole the joy of Rodgers and his die-hard fans during A-Rod’s debut game on September 12, it has brought some good news regarding the gray-bearded man in recent days. Just two days later after sustaining the injury, the MVP underwent a successful surgery in Los Angeles. This surgery was unique and innovative because it used a procedure designed to accelerate the standard rehabilitation process for such injuries. Noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache and his team applied a speed bridge or internal brace to his left torn Achilles. So, probably that’s the reason behind Rodgers’ speedy recovery.

Furthermore, this type of injury takes around five to six months, but in Rodgers’ case, medical experts have highlighted that it could take only four to five months. Therefore, if Rodgers takes four months for rehab, he will come back in mid-January for the Jets, as the regular season will end in January. Meanwhile, Rodgers has started his rehab but is finding it difficult. A-Rod, in his 18-season NFL career, has experienced multiple injuries, including Jones fracture, ACL, broken collarbones, knee injuries, and others.

However, this time, he feels the rehab process is extremely challenging. In a recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers revealed: “This is a tough rehab for sure because there are just so many little muscles that you kind of have to re-wake up. It’s not just the calf muscles and the tibia muscles and the foot muscles, it’s just everything I need to work as a unit…..You have to be careful walking too much with a limp because you’re going to start adjusting to certain things.”

Rodgers also mentioned he is “working on the Alter G and walking of the lower body percentage.” During these two months, he is also sticking to the prescribed rehab plan with limited exercises and is trying to stress the Achilles and not stretch the tendon. Moreover, during the game between the Chiefs and Jets, Rodgers was seen walking with the help of the crutches.

But soon after it, ahead of the next matchup, before the Jets and Eagles game on September 15, Rodgers was seen tossing the ball without the help of any support or crutches. During the McAfee Show, he mentioned that at an airport, Rodgers and his attendees were unloading stuff from his car when everyone suddenly realized that Rodgers was no longer using crutches.

Since then, he has given up any support and is now walking on his legs and is even on the verge of being able to jump. However, there are some reports, too, that the four-time NFL MVP would have to undergo his timetable strictly, as skipping any month or even stressing his injured leg could result in something worse.

Nevertheless, Rodgers’ achievements and recovery in less than two months since the injury have surprised everyone. So, would it be correct to attribute all of this to the unique surgery? Well, it could be one part of the answer. But there is something more to Aaron Rodgers’ road to recovery.

Aaron Rodgers has all that the NFL requires from a player!

Besides his unique surgery, it would be wrong to overlook Aaron Rodgers’ sheer determination, hard work, and inbuilt “never die” attitude. Soon after the surgery, when he, for the first time, appeared in Pat McAfee’s show, Rodgers was asked about his potential return to the gridiron in 2023. That time, A-Rod smiled and said that he would like to recall NBA legend Kevin Garnett’s quote, “Anything’s possible.” Where football enthusiasts, on the one hand, were speculating that Rodgers would never return and would retire in the near future, A-Rod, at the age of 39, showed his resilience in coming back and surprising everyone with his speedy recovery.

This four-time NFL MVP also mentioned during an interview with Eli Manning that his normalcy of pregame tosses at MetLife before the Philly game provoked his inside determination to make a comeback soon. As the NFL demands technical qualities, physical capacity, strong mental health, determination, hard work, and indomitable spirit, Rodgers has all of these. And probably with these qualities showing from time to time, Aaron Rodgers has earned the title of being the legendary quarterback in the NFL at present.

For a brief moment last month, fans thought that Rodgers was already back during the Jets vs. Giants game. During halftime highlights, Terry Bradshaw, the former footballer, exclaimed, “Rodgers is playing.” Fans noted the error and said it was Zach Wilson who was playing as the quarterback. This gaffe caused a stir among A-Rod’s fans.
