A lot of times, the NFL imposes fines on players for absurd reasons. Remember Tyreek Hill’s backflip? It cost him more than $10k. This is due to the NFL’s strict no-props policy. Similarly, in one instance, Ezekiel Elliott was fined more than $13k for using the Salvation Army Kettle as a prop. Now, something similar has happened with the Baltimore Ravens’ OT Morgan Moses. However, what happened to him might not be unwarranted.

Tom Pelissero posted something on X that makes the case for the NFL’s tight scrutiny around using props. The last game against the Houston Texans might have come as a wake-up call for the Baltimore Ravens OT. For Moses, the fine imposed might not be much, but for commoners, the amount can fly them halfway across the world and back.

When Lamar Jackson ran for an 8-yard TD, the crowd went haywire, and so did the Ravens’ OT. Pelissero posted a video on X captioned, “Here’s why Morgan Moses got fined: He somehow ended up with a photographer’s camera after the TD. (Props are banned.)”. The video shows Lamar Jackson getting into the endzone and running into the tunnel. He was followed by a couple of other players and when Jackson came out, celebrations were in order.

However, instead of the cameraman taking pictures or recording the QB, Morgan Moses took it upon himself to cater to the cameraman’s job as well. He was seen with a camera that had a huge lens, taking pictures of/recording Jackson’s post-touchdowns. While Jackson was throwing poses, the NFL had other ways to scrutinize Moses’ actions. He was fined $13,659 for “unsportsmanlike” conduct.

Something similar happened to the Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill at the start of the season, in the game against the Carolina Panthers.

How Tyreek Hill’s celebration got him in a crunch

In the week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers, Tyreek Hill scored a jaw-dropping TD and after getting into the endzone, he ran to a cameraman, grabbed his phone, and recorded himself doing a backflip. A phone is considered a prop in the NFL’s list and Hill was fined $10,827 for his transgressions. Moses’ was charged $2,832 more than Tyreek Hill’s fine.

Tyreek Hill has been notorious as far as racking up fines is concerned. He has amassed about $150k in fines due to a variety of reasons, such as not adhering to the uniform codes, taunting people, and showboating.

As for Moses, who faced the first fine of the season, we can only say that the NFL once again declared that it’s a ‘No Fun League’ considering that it fines players for petty and meaningless things that are harmless.
