Is Tua Tagovailoa's return the spark the Dolphins need, or a risky gamble on his health?

“It was a first in my football history,” Dolphins’ head coach, Mike McDaniel, commented. Having Zach Sieler out would be a real blow to the Dolphins. The team’s defensive line is already running thin in depth. And to add to their woes, defensive tackle Zach Sieler will not be playing in the upcoming game against Arizona.

The 29-year-old’s wife expressed her love and support for her husband after the incident. Post his injury, Hannah Sieler posted a sweet picture in which she can be seen holding their son, Stetson Lynn Sieler, while Zach kisses him after a game. She wrote, “We will miss you today 92!! Zach hasn’t missed a game since we got here even with a broken hand at one point!? Thank you to those who reached out! ”

Sieler suffered a fractured orbital bone during practice on Thursday after receiving an eye jab. There is no clarity on whether the DE’s injury will require surgery. But the coach informed he will not be playing on Sunday: “Timeline is unknown, and that’s kind of where it stands.”

The details of how the injury occurred have not been made known. Sieler made himself a regular in Dolphins defensive line rotation after the team scooped up the DE off waivers back in 2019. For now, the sweet words from his lover will surely keep Zach’s spirits high.

While DE Sieler focuses on getting better, the Dolphins will be working with tackle Neil Farrell as he was moved up the roster. The 26-year-old has previously played with the Raiders and Chiefs before signing with the Dolphins’ practice squad in 2024. Farrell’s NFL career started in 2022 with Las Vegas Raiders. Since then he has appeared in twelve games. Silver lining: the Dolphins have Tua back.

Tua Tagovailoa makes his comeback on the field

Is Tua Tagovailoa's return the spark the Dolphins need, or a risky gamble on his health?

Have an interesting take?

Back in September, Tua Tagovailoa sustained a concussion during a game against the Bills in Week 2 of the season. The concussion marked his third diagnosis in less than two years. The QB achieved some brilliant wins in the 2021 season but could only maintain that success for a short time, as he frequently found himself sidelined due to various concussions.

Despite suffering from several injuries, Tua showcased flashes of brilliance in the 2023 season, where he played all 17 games. Post-injury, he is back and will be playing in the upcoming game. His teammates are happy and excited to have him back. “When Tua is a part of this offense, can’t nobody stop us, bro,” said WR Tyreek Hill.

And to be honest, it’s actually thrilling to have Tua back on the field, especially considering that many were urging him to consider retirement after his concussion. His drive really shows how much the QB loves the game. And we are rooting for him.
