” It’s surreal,” said Randi Mahomes about the rise of his son Patrick Mahomes as a superstar Super Bowl-winning QB. And does that warrant any special attention from Randi compared to her other children? Well, according to the mother of three, who once convinced Patrick to continue his football career, she treats all her kids the same, something that tickles the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback.

Randi Mahomes has often talked about being humble despite the success of his son who has three Super Bowls to his name and her recent admission is no different. Promoting her book “Play Together,” she joined The Mom Game Podcast on June 21 with hosts Julie Dobbs and Emily Jones, to share her perspective on her children, especially her son Patrick Mahomes.

Dobbs asked her how it has been seeing the rise of her NFL superstar son. To this Randi replied, “It’s surreal. I mean if I ever use that word it’s on that because there’s moments I have to take a moment and look down and be like, because I still look at him the same I don’t look at him as a Super Bowl MVP.”

Despite being the youngest quarterback to win multiple MVP awards and Super Bowls, Patrick gets the same treatment as the other two children of Randi. This was echoed further when she explained that she didn’t take notice of the Chiefs’ QB being on the cover of TIME magazine in April.

Randi said,

“When he was on the Time Magazine and I  didn’t know he was on the cover until I got it in the mail. And it’s sitting on my dresser in my room because I have to remind myself because he’s still my son I still look at him the same. I look at him like I look at Jackson and Mia. I don’t look at him differently and I look at that magazine and I’m like wow.”

I treat him the same as I do the other two. And so sometimes he’ll be like you’re mad, you’re just mad. I’m like no, I’m just the only person in your world that is honest. Like I don’t know and I’m sure there’s a few other people, I’m sure Brittany is, but yeah, I am like the person that’s honest and he’s not going to get any sugar coating over here,” she added.

Randi tried to remain fair, honest, and truthful with her children. That’s the reason why when she participated in a rapid-fire game last week, she didn’t answer the question Who’s your favorite child?

When it comes to her bond with Patrick, Randi has admitted to some friction earlier when he was growing up, but she was also responsible for pushing him to continue with football when he wanted to quit. In the same podcast, Randi revealed that “football was the last thing” he liked during his sophomore year. Being the son of an MLB pitcher, Mahomes was conflicted. But Randi turned his mind around after telling him that he would “be bored in the stands” if he quit football. These words did the trick and Patrick took up football and we all know how is it going for him.

Talking about the dynamics in the Mahomes family, it seems Randi has been able to foster better relations between her children, with Patrick being there for his siblings.

Patrick Mahomes’s bond with his siblings

Patrick Mahomes has a great support system from his family, and this includes his siblings Jackson Mahomes and Mia Randall. Over the years, the two have been the quarterback’s biggest cheerleaders, along with Momma and Patrick’s wife Brittany Mahomes. Since the 2017 NFL Draft, they are often seen attending the 28-year-old’s games and other big events.

All three share a deep bond, supporting each other in their career. Be it Jackson’s controversies, or Mia’s sports events, Patrick is always there for them, serving his big brother duties as much as he can. Even now, Patrick and his wife, Brittany, keep tabs on Mia, supporting and guiding her in her career. When Mia was a newborn, it was QB and then his girlfriend Brittany who used to babysit her.

Besides her, Jackson is also “super close” with the quarterback. Randi said, “I love how close Patrick and Jackson are. At one point in their life… I thought that they would never like each other… and now they are best friends.”

Jackson once admitted his closeness with Patrick, while attempting to help fans know more about him via his YouTube video – “Who is Jackson Mahomes? My first Youtube Video!” In the video, he revealed that “being related to Patrick is like being related to anybody else.”

Although he is reportedly not as athletic as his big brother, he found his identity through social media. Jackson once informed his followers that “his whole life has been compared to” his NFL star brother and MLB player father, Patrick Mahomes Sr. However, he made his family proud when he was the “1st in the fam” to graduate from college, and now has become a popular sensation in the TikTok world.

All three siblings are often seen celebrating events and festivals together giving the impression of a tightly knit family.
