Veteran Shannon Sharpe has come down hard on QB Tua Tagovailoa after losing 21-14 against the AFC East rivals. The Dolphins have lost the first spot in the AFC East and simultaneously the second-seed rank of the overall division to the Bills. The Dolphins didn’t capitalize on the early lead and lost the game during crucial moments, leading them to be playing in the wild-card round against the Chiefs.
Following the disheartening loss, Sharpe recalled the words of the QB Tagovailoa from the game against the Jets. After losing against the Titans by just one point, the team then went on to win their next game against the Jets 30-0. Post that, Tagovailoa shed light on the matter that the world thinks of him as a good QB only because he has Tyreek Hill by his side.
However, he was quick to acknowledge that he is undoubtedly as good as his teams allow him to be, whether it’s Raheem Mostert, Hill, or any other player. During this time, the QB went ahead to comment about how if Dolphins Communications shares anything with him, he keeps ‘receipts.’ Well, the statement is probably going to haunt him now as Sharpe on Nightcap brought up the statement right back.

Nightcap posted a video on X with the caption, “Unc is coming with the receipts for Tua.” Sharpe first appreciated the Bills for winning the AFC East division for the fourth consecutive year, clinching the second seed, and hosting the Steelers in the wild-card game next Sunday. He then addressed the Dolphin’s situation after the loss, as they now are the sixth seed and will travel to the Arrowhead to face the Chiefs.
Sharpe then read Tagovailao’s stats from the game which included 17 completions of 27 attempts with just 173 yards and two interceptions. Sharpe was quick to jump on Tagovailoa for his prior statement, “Hey Tua, you still got those receipts?” Additionally, taking a jab at the QB, he added, “I got mine right here”.

He explained that he also kept all the receipts just like CBS. He addressed Tagovailoa further, “Hey Tua, you see, all you had to do was just go play.” However, that is not where the line of questioning for the former professional ended. He further added, “You had a game, on your home field, all you gotta do is win.” Adding more fuel to the fire of his words, Sharpe said to Ocho that he wanted to hear what Tagovailoa had to say now. After leading the game till the third quarter, how did the Dolphins lose a home game?

The game started by exchanging interceptions until the Dolphins took the 14-7 lead at the second-half mark. The gridiron witnessed not only a brilliant touchdown from Tyreek Hill but also his special “backflip” celebrations. However, the third quarter didn’t see any action with competition from both ends. It was during the last quarter when the game turned in Bills’ favor.
Deonte Harty penetrated the Dolphins’ defense and scored a 96-yard punt return TD to bring his team right into the game. This big clash also witnessed some injuries in the Dolphins squad, the LB Cameron James Goode injured his knee badly and couldn’t continue the match. These factors also added to the pressure on the Dolphins who started stumbling toward the end.
Finally, it was the remarkable TD catch by Dawson Knox that sealed the deal for the Bills and handed the Dolphins their second defeat in a row. The Dolphins have lost on crucial momentum before approaching the knockout stage and the Chiefs are not going to give an easy fight in Kansas City. The Dolphins need to sort out troubles fast before heading into the next stage of the season.
