Is JuJu Smith-Schuster's TikTok fame overshadowing his performance on the field? What do you think?

Although the 27-year-old signed a three-year contract last season for the Patriots, earlier this month, JuJu Smith Schuster was released, citing injury and consistency struggles. And his new home is none other than Andy Reid’s Chiefs, who are on track to prep for an unprecedented 3-peat.

However, after confirming his arrival at Arrowhead Stadium, Reid seemingly roasted JuJu for his speed. As tweeted by Fatty Patty Reid was found saying, “You move faster on your TikTok Tapes.” But considering the WR’s numbers before last season, where he racked up 933 yards on 78 catches while adding 3 TDs, the roast seemed to be all in good fun.

However, looking at JuJu’s recent struggles with injuries last season and inconsistencies on the field might have prompted Reid to come up with his roast. Although there could be problems with Smith-Schuster’s performances last year, he had a sensational time playing for the Chiefs last time out.

Smith is joining the reigning champions on a veteran contract worth just $1.21 million. Meanwhile, the Patriots are expected to pay him $7 million this season based on the contract he signed in 2023. Returning to his old employers, JuJu might have a point to prove after getting this opportunity in a team that is looking to bolster their WR room amid recent problems.

Can JuJu Smith Schuster’s arrival help the Chiefs reduce their shortcomings in the roster?

Even though Smith-Schuster is a seven-year veteran, having spent his first five NFL seasons playing for the Steelers. His surprising union with the Chiefs might be down to multiple reasons. Last year, the Pro Bowler struggled with an ankle injury but still managed to finish with 29 catches for 260 yards while adding a single TD to his name. But those performances might not have been enough to cement his long-term future in Foxborough after signing a three-year contract worth $25.5 million.
