The Chiefs’ only defeat in the season so far, was at the hands of the Detroit Lions, when their TE Travis Kelce did not play. With Kelce, the Chiefs are undefeated and have a score of 6-0. Age takes a toll on players’ performance, but with Kelce it seems, that time works in reverse. He keeps getting better with time! What is the secret to his stunning performance on the gridiron field? Could Taylor Swift be a factor?
As they prepare to take on the Broncos again next week, will their offense continue to deliver? They might have won their previous game against Denver, but they have been getting better with every match.

Speaking during an interview on the I AM ATHLETE channel, Kelce was conferred the title of “Best Weapon in Football”, by host Brandon Marshall. Reacting to that title and reflecting on his performance so far, the ever-humble Kelce downplayed his role in the Chiefs’ victories. “Knowing that you got a guy like Pat Mahomes back there who can do it all he can handle uh everything from the game mentally and physically,” he praised Mahomes and also gave due credit to his team members. “The way we use our tight ends and wide receivers is different than every other offense in the league.”
Although Kelce is Mahomes’ favorite target, in the last game against the Chargers, Mahomes gave equal opportunity to all his other teammates. Kelce, Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling each recorded one touchdown in the Chargers game. The Kansas City Chiefs has one of the best leagues in the team and the Mahomes-Kelce partnership is unparalleled.
While Kelce might be right in saying that it’s not all him and that he has been blessed with a great team, it’s clear that he has been playing at his best ever. Some analysts were quick to draw in the Swift connection. So, how much of a role does Swift have in all of this?
The Swift factor has been firing up Kelce’s games
This season will go down in the history of the Chiefs Kingdom clearly demarcated into two eras: pre-Taylor and post-Taylor. When you have your “rumored” girlfriend watching you play on the gridiron, you won’t give up on any chance to impress her, right? In fact, Skip Bayless went so far as to suggest that Kelce had made some dangerous plays in the Chargers game just to impress her. “It looked like Travis is showing off for Taylor and I don’t blame him at all because she’s a big deal.”.
The stats also confirm that ever since Swift came into Kelce’s life, he’s been bringing his A-game. According to a graphic shared by ESPN, Kelce had averaged 46.5 receiving yards per game this season before Swift. Enter Taylor Swift, and the number more than doubled to 108! Football fans may complain about how her coverage is affecting the football experience. But, if you’re a Chiefs fan, you can’t complain that it’s doing no good. HC Andy Reid had said, “Taylor can stay around as long as she wants.”.

To be fair, Swift may be Kelce’s lucky charm, but he seems to be aging like fine wine. Over time, his ability to diagnose the defense and pick routes that open him up to Mahomes’ passes has gotten better. In his first game of the season against the Jaguars, he had 4 catches for 26 yards. But in the six games since, he’s recorded 48 passes for 499 yards and 4 TDs. Will he be able to keep the momentum going?
