Anyone who is part of the Chiefs Kingdom, don’t be surprised if you find yet another Texas Longhorns player joining your ranks next summer. After getting their hands on former Longhorns receiver Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs have been urged to target Jahdae Barron. Well, the Longhorns CB, who just won his Jim Thorpe Award on Thursday, has received a shout-out from Chiefs rookie WR Xavier Worthy.

Jim Thorpe Award, which is usually given to the best defensive back over the year in college football, has made its way to Jahdae Barron. He squashed his fellow college defenders, Ohio State’s safety Caleb Downs and Georgia’s Malaki Starks, to win this title. As for Barron, he absolutely deserves this trophy on the back of a sensational senior year with Texas. Barron recorded 47 tackles, five interceptions and one sack to cement his place in College folklore.

Although Barron almost declared for the NFL draft last season, he backtracked at the final moment. After receiving lower-round draft grades, Barron is set to be a late first-rounder or early second-rounder next season. Well, he also has Worthy in Kansas City, who seemingly has opened the door for Barron to join them in 2025. Taking to his Instagram stories hours after Barron was announced the winner of the Jim Thorpe Trophy, Worthy wrote, “And when he comes to the Chiefs, it’s finna sting yall more.”

But this isn’t the first time Worthy is marketing Barron to the Chiefs. Going back a few days, the Chiefs WR wore a warm-up shirt with the message, “Jahdae for Thorpe.” He also took to Instagram to post that picture with the caption, “F— it twin for Thorpe.” Well, he did manage to win the Thorpe. And could also join the Chiefs next season if Worthy continues to call for his addition. As for the 21-year-old receiver, he continues to earn the praise of Patrick Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes praises Xavier Worthy growth in Kansas City

Who doesn’t want to play with Patrick Mahomes right now? Xavier Worthy is one of those lucky players who isn’t just playing with Mahomes. But has continued to earn his validation while proving himself useful in his rookie year. After getting picked by the Chiefs as their 28th overall, Worthy has hit the ground running. His first touch was a 21-yard rushing TD from Mahomes in the season-opener against the Ravens. What a way to announce himself to the Chiefs Kingdom!

Well, Worthy hasn’t slowed down one bit. Over the 13 games he has played this season, the rookie WR has recorded 38 receptions on just 67 targets while racking up 448 yards. He also has 4 receiving TDs to his name, alongside two rushing TDs for 54 rushing yards. So when it came to praising the 21-year-old, Mahomes didn’t mince his words, “He’s getting better and better. I think he’s just playing with such more confidence. I think he’s going to be continuing to get better and better, which is going to help us going into the postseason.”

Even Worthy showered praise on Mahomes while calling it “a dream come true” to play with him. You see why they win when you’re here. They work hard. They go about their business the right way.” Only time will tell whether Worthy can continue helping the Chiefs in their return to the Super Bowl this season. Who knows, maybe he could win a Super Bowl ring in his first season in the NFL, considering the way the Chiefs are winning games this year.
