How does it feel when you see a 21-year-old owning the gridiron in the most important game of the season? Crazy feelings for a fan. The Kansas City Chiefs Wide receiver Xavier Worthy gave us a snapshot of that feeling in the championship game against the Buffalo Bills. Worthy’s insane stats and, more importantly, his efforts to dominate the field inch-by-inch have paid off. What’s the result of that? The Chiefs have entered the Super Bowl again. But before we analyze Worthy’s stats, the WR has confirmed an interesting update.
Xavier Worthy’s friend and current defensive tackle for the Seahawks, Byron Murphy II, posted a video of Worthy’s insane touchdown on his Instagram story. The best part is Murphy II’s story had an overlay text: “Get paid.” and you know, Xavier Worthy has shared it, conforming he got paid for outperforming everyone in his debut Championship game. The WR has confirmed it for sure, though he has not revealed the amount.
But you know, other than Xavier’s salary, why are people discussing his trade? That’s because Xavier Worthy was about to land in Buffalo in the 2024 NFL drafts, but the franchise allowed the Chiefs to move ahead and sign him. But now it’s clear how big the blunder was. Talking about this, Xavier has said, “They skipped on me. That’s their loss.” The Chiefs signed worthy as the 28th pick in Round 1 of 2024 drafts. And he got a $13,790,264 rookie deal of four years with a staggering $6,849,284 signing bonus.

And talking about his stats, Worthy had six receptions out of seven targets in the Bills game and landed one receiving touchdown, which was mind-blowing. Along with that, he covered 85 receiving yards for this, making an average of yards per reception of 14.2. And in the season, he has scored 5 TDs after 59 receptions and covering 638 yards. That’s dope! And it potentially gives him a great deal next year.

There is a chip on Worthy’s shoulder. And Worthy himself described him after the Bills game, showing off how much he was worth. Talking to Sports Illustrated, Xavier Worthy has said, “I mean, I take it as a blessing.” The Chiefs’ wide receiver was talking about getting snubbed in 2024 drafts. He continued saying, “At the end of the day, I’m going to play with a chip on my shoulder.”
But as we are seeing the Eagles are giving Saquon Barkley a $250,000 contract bonus, the same thing can happen with Xavier Worthy. Though the Chiefs have not yet confirmed it. But the coach definitely praised him after the AFC win. Reid said, “The kid, every week, has just gotten better, and better, and better. And he’s really put together a nice half of the season — the second half, here.” Looking at Worthy’s plays, if he delivers the same performance in the Super Bowl against the Eagles, he could get a contract bonus undoubtedly. For now, the Chiefs’ WR is focusing on the New Orleans game.
