With each passing day, more and more NFL stars and analysts are getting worked up by the Dallas Cowboys. It all began months ago when fans realized that Dak Prescott’s four-year contract extension was coming to an end after the 2024 season. Apart from the quarterback, the team could also be losing their best wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, and maybe even a linebacker whose contract ends in 2025. After all, his contract would also be expiring later this year.

Now, just after RGIII addressed the Cowboys’ Jerry Jones’ extension stalemate with Prescott, ex-49ers star, Richard Sherman has also jumped into the argument. In a recent episode of the former cornerback’s podcast, the 36-year-old was asked whether this could be Mike McCarthy’s last season by his cohost, Mitch Eisenstein. While listeners might have been interested in the answer, the athlete stated, “Dallas has a lot more questions than that.”

“What the f are you guys doing in general?,” Sherman posed the question to the team. The former Seahawks athlete explained his frustration by adding, “Early in offseason you’re like oh okay they’re just taking their time but you have yet to pay the guys who play the best on your team.” After all, the Cowboys had been delaying extension negotiations with both Lamb and Prescott for quite a while now. However, even Micah Parsons will soon find himself awaiting an extension as well.

With prices only increasing with every passing day, the 36-year-old added that they would end up spending “$120 million on three guys” or they could let them walk and “become a worse team.” Although Jones may have a hard time convincing Lamb and Parsons to take a low salary, the owner might have a little more luck with the team’s favorite quarterback.

Earlier this year, Dak Prescott seemed certain that the Cowboys would do everything in their power to retain him. However, with his 2021 contract extension for $160 million already in play, their plans ran into a sudden halt. While there was nothing but silence from team owner, Jerry Jones, for months, just ahead of the NFL draft, he stated that they wanted to keep the quarterback, but the funds were an issue for the team.

Luckily for Jones and his salary cap problems, Prescott told the media that he has no problems not being one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. However, that may have changed after the Lions stunned the football world with the $212 million deal with Jared Goff earlier this month. While the 30-year-old may have hopes of a second extension coming this year, his fans do not seem to be too sure.

In fact, with the days starting to fly by before the 2024 season kicks off, the Cowboys fans are losing faith that the athlete could remain with the team. However, with Jones making it clear that he wants to keep Prescott, there is no saying what could happen. After all, with his contract running out only at the end of the upcoming season, Dallas just might find a way to keep him.
