Forget sibling rivalry—the Kelce brothers are battling it out over, Father’s Day traditions. Die-hard football fans know former Eagles’ center Jason Kelce for his on-field dominance, but his latest move sparked a hilarious conversation with his younger brother, Chiefs’ TE Travis Kelce. On their podcast, New Heights, Jason made an unorthodox Father’s Day request: he wants his wife, Kylie Kelce, and kids to kneel at his feet.
Talking about different Father’s Day traditions around the world, Jason zeroed in on a tradition from Thailand. Jason remarked, “I’m kinda on this tradition. I wouldn’t mind Kylie kneeling on my feet.” He distanced himself from any regal overtones by saying, “It’s outta respect—it’s Father’s Day!” But Travis was having none of it. He alluded to Jason’s previous remarks that he didn’t believe in royalty, asserting, “You can’t be in on people bowing and out on kings..?”
The ex-Philadelphia center, however, has a unique take on respect, one reserved for his immediate family. For Jason, true respect is not from the public but from those closest to him. He jokingly exclaimed, “I’d like my wife and children bowing to me, not just any people. Show me respect…and not just bowing and kneeling at my feet!”

When Jason described his vision in more detail, things got a little, stinky. He imagines his kids bowing down to him and breathing in the “aromas” of his unwashed feet. The idea seems to be a method of olfactory discipline—a way for his kids to recognize bedtime cues. Jason explained, “The next time they question whether it’s bedtime or not, they’ll just know. I’ll put my feet up and they’ll be like: oh gosh, I know what that aroma means—it means bedtime!”

Whether Kylie and the kids will participate in this “aromatic Father’s Day tradition” , your guess is as good as ours. But this unique (and slightly bizarre) custom stirred a memorable conversation between the Kelce brothers, who are also taking a fresh look at Uncle’s Day traditions.
Kelce Brothers rethinking Father’s Day and highlighting uncles this summer
While the Kelce brothers re-examined Father’s Day rituals on their podcast, they also emphasized the importance of uncles. Jason Kelce compared traditional American customs with global customs in the podcast, which was taped on June 16th. It’s interesting to note that the brothers learned about National Uncle’s Day, which happens to be on July 26. Unfortunately, official celebrations on that particular day are unlikely due to Travis’ hectic NFL training camp schedule.

But Travis has proven himself to be an amazing uncle to his nieces already. Before the 2023 Super Bowl (where the Kelce brothers famously faced off against one another), Jason’s wife, Kylie, praised Travis. Kylie said, “He’s the best uncle ever to my girls!” Perhaps their Uncle Don can take some credit for inspiring this appreciation. As Travis mentioned on the podcast, “Uncle Don deserves it more than anybody. He’s the greatest uncle! And I was with him on his 70th birthday.”
The Kelce brothers are broadening the traditional meaning of Father’s Day by discussing the often-underrated role of uncles. With National Uncle’s Day on June 26th, NFL training schedules won’t allow Travis Kelce to spend time with his nieces. It is to be seen what he has planned for his little nieces.
