The Detroit Lions have endured one of the worst playoff droughts in the history of the NFL. But things are changing this year with head coach Dan Campbell at the helm and Jared Goff at the quarterback position. Now, with a playoff spot almost secured, the Lions have shocked their faithful fans with a drastic increase in ticket prices.

This year, the Lions have performed brilliantly on both sides of the ball. They achieved the top position in their NFC North division with 10 wins and only 4 losses. But this success is coming at a price for the fans, for in certain places, there is an 85% increase in price.

The Lions last went to the playoffs in 2016, with the team only having won a single game in the playoffs since 1957. Their only win in the playoffs came against the Dallas Cowboys in 1991 and none since then. So the team looks as good as they have ever been. With QB Jared Goff commanding the team, they are now asking fans to pay more from 2024.

Season ticket holders have been notified by the Lions that their prices will shoot up by 30% from next year onwards. However, this sharp increase is also the result of the Lions’ awe-inspiring performance this year and the fans’ support.

The Ford Field can hold up to 65,000 fans and this year it was filled to the brim. Fans were clamoring to see their local team performing on the national stage. Hence, the increase in demand has caused an increase in prices. These prices can go up even further if the Lions do clinch the playoff spot easily this season.

The battle for playoffs is underway in the North

The Lions have just 3 games remaining in the regular season. But two of those will be against their divisional NFC North rivals and longtime nemesis the Minnesota Vikings. Both are jockeying for victories to secure a playoff spot themselves.
