Broncos Country was shocked when Ian Rapoport revealed that the real reason why QB Russell Wilson was benched was because they did not want him to get himself injured in the remaining two games of the season. Valid reason, right? But he revealed that it was not out of concern for his health, but because Denver Broncos might cut him in March, and if he gets injured, his injury clause will set in, which will see him take $37 million from the team.
So, if he does indeed get cut, what could be his next possible destination?

1. Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders might be coming off a Christmas Day victory, but rookie starter Aidan O’Connell hasn’t managed to lead the team to the playoffs. Although Jimmy Garoppolo is still under contract till 2025, Wilson might have a better chance at bringing the Raiders’ weapons together than Garoppolo or O’Connell did.

2. Minnesota Vikings
Kirk Cousins is set to hit the free market in 2024. Considering that he played well before an Achilles injury took him out for the remainder of the season in October, the Vikings might sign a contract extension. But if they are looking for an alternative, Wilson might be their go-to man.
3. New England Patriots
Mac Jones is still struggling to find his footing with the Pats. When Bill Belichick switched to Bailey Zappe, things did seem to get better, but the Pats still lack a reliable starting QB. They have been oscillating between the two the entire season. Although they are slated to earn a top-five pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, can the defensive mastermind in Belichick stop him from drafting another defensive weapon? If yes, then signing Wilson might provide the answer to some of the Pats’ offensive woes.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers
Kenny Pickett has been the embodiment of “average” After being picked in the very first round last year, he has just scored 16 touchdown passes, and thrown 13 interceptions. The Steelers have managed to go so far in the season thanks to their defense. If Wilson joins the Steelers, they will get an experienced QB who can finally revive the fallen dynasty.

5. Atlanta Falcons
If Head Coach Arthur Smith is in for the long haul with the Falcons, he will need a better quarterback to work with than Desmond Ridder. The Bears, if they decide to trade away Justin Fields, might finally have an answer to their QB woes, but that looks highly unlikely. If they rope in Wilson, whoever, they stand a better chance of optimizing weapons such as RB Bijan Robinson, and TE Kyle Pitts.
