The Washington Commanders are having a horrid 2023 season. With a record of 4-9 in the NFC East, they are all but eliminated from the playoffs picture. And now the reports are coming from the Commanders’ HQ that head coach Ron Rivera will be fired after the season. Can Bill Belichick replace him as the HC for the Washington football team?

Bill Belichick himself has been suffering lately, especially this season. As the New England Patriots have already been eliminated from the playoffs with a record of 3-10. Can the new owners at the Commanders entice the legendary coach to join them?

Bill Belichick has a commanding chance

The Commanders changed ownership earlier this year in July. New owner Josh Harris is ready to inject new life and money into the system. However, several reports have suggested that the new life at the Commanders will be brought in at the expense of HC Rivera and several front office members.

The only thing delaying the action is the current regular season. This could also be the case with the Patriots, where Belichick is expected to be let go by the owner Robert Kraft. And Belichick might be forced to look for newer pastures.

As Belichick hasn’t given any details regarding his future, it is expected that he will continue to coach even after being let go by the Patriots. But what do each of the units have to gain from this transaction?

A perfect match for each other

Even though Belichick has been linked with other franchises, such as the Chargers. Realistically, only the Commanders can pay him his current salary, after the infusion of funds by the new owner. Not only that, but Belichick will have a lot more command over the team’s roster and draft picks.

The Commanders and Harris, on the other hand, will utilize his experience and leadership to shape up a trodden team. Hence, if the Patriots and Belichick do end up parting ways, the Commanders would be one of the leading franchises to poach the 6X Super Bowl-winning coach.
