Can Joe Flacco really turn the Colts' season around, or is McAfee just being overly optimistic?

A wise move just paid off today for the Colts. After announcing Anthony Richardson as their starting quarterback, they were looking for a backup. And they found a worthy one. In March this year, Joe Flacco was added to their roster on a 1-year deal. Flacco, a veteran, didn’t get his chance till today. But when he got it, he grabbed it with both hands.

During the week 4 game against the Steelers, he made a touchdown pass after coming on. Last year, Flacco became the Comeback of the Year for the Browns. In today’s game, his brilliance impressed Pat McAfee, who tweeted, “Colts are gonna win the Super Bowl.” But it begs the question, why did he come to the field today? The game is interesting.

Anthony Richardson got injured in the first quarter when Steelers’ Minkah Fitzpatrick hit him in the hip, after which the QB limped and went off the field. Flacco briefly replaced Richardson before he came back. A few seconds later, his head got hit by Fitzpatrick. He left the field and was ruled out of the game.

For the Colts, it marks an interesting turn of events. Last year, Joe Flacco wasn’t the starter till the week 13 game. But once he played, he led them to 4 wins in 6 games. His influential leadership led the Browns to secure a playoff berth in the last 3 years. However, the age isn’t on his side. The 39-year-old is nearing retirement.

So did Pat McAfee genuinely think that way, or was he mocking the team? We’ll find out soon. Till then, let’s explore Anthony Richardson’s past injuries.
