Is Bryce Young‘s future at the Carolina Panthers already over? This question has been in the mind of every NFL fan ever since the team benched the young QB just after two bad starts this season. The Panthers replaced him with veteran QB Andy Dalton for the Week-3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, with Dalton’s fruitful start for the team, the Youngs’ future at Carolina seems more uncertain than ever. NFL insider Tom Pelissero has shared his take on the 21-year-old’s situation at the Bank of America stadium.

In the recent episode of the Rich Eisen Show, Pelissero discussed Young’s situation with the Panthers. When asked about the parameters the young QB would need to get back after Dalton’s successful start, the NFL insider bluntly said that he can’t return in the present condition. However, Pelissero mentioned that if Dalton fails to have another impactful performance in the next couple of games, the Panthers might consider adding Young back to the lineup.

The NFL insider further said, “Dave Canales has a lot of veteran players who have seen stuff in that locker room like Adam Thielen has just gone in the IR, but there’s Deontay Johnson and Jadeveon Clowney, they know, players always know. And what they saw last week was Andy Dalton functioning in an offense that, with Young as the QB looked dysfunctional”.

In the end, Pelissero added that in the past there have been young QBs like Terry Bradshaw, and John Elway who bounced back after being benched early in their career. They later went on to win the Super Bowl. However, as of now, for the Insider, the 21-year-old QB hasn’t shown the quality that is expected from an NFL QB.

Overall, Young’s future at the Panthers looks to be in question, more so after the recent resurgence of Dalton. But as of now, there has been no talk about both the parties parting ways. The veteran QB surprised everyone with his performance last week. The veteran QB became the first player this season to throw beyond 300 yards and three touchdowns in the same game. There was also a significant improvement in the Panthers‘ third-down conversions, completing five of 12 attempts. Now in the Week 4 Dalton is set to face his former side Cincinnati Bengals on September 29, Sunday.

The Panthers’ offense did look a bit fractured in the first two games when they lost against the New Orleans Saints (10-47) and the Los Angeles Chargers (26-3). However, with Dalton as the QB leading them up front, it looks like his experience together with the young talents around him is proving to be a lethal combination. Following the Week 3 win, the team’s loyal fans are showing confidence in the veteran QB to lead the team and keep them on the winning track for the rest of the season.
