Will Saquon Barkley's return be the game-changer the Giants need against the Packers?

The Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers are set to make history. With the NFL’s first regular-season game in South America, they were lighting up the skies of São Paulo. Everyone is excited, especially as it’s the first time in 50 years a Week 1 game will take place on a Friday night. Fans are eager to see the action unfold, but with the Eagles’ injury report raising some eyebrows, many wonder if their favorite players will be hitting the field. There’s plenty to keep an eye on in this highly anticipated matchup. One of the players you must be curious about is Saquon Barkley.

This will be his first game with the Eagles, and expectations are high. Especially after his previous record of two Pro Bowls under his belt and being named Offensive Rookie of the Year. In his six NFL seasons, the only years he made to the list of top 10 in fantasy points per game for running backs was when he was injured in 2020 and 2021, yet he worked with his full strength. But now, he’s looking ready to go against the Packers, completely healthy and it will be fun to watch him play tonight’s game.

And his team believes in him. Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith even stated, “He’s superhuman.” Smith is excited to see what Barkley can do. He’s the biggest signing of the Eagles’ offseason and will make his debut in Eagles vs Packers in São Paulo.

Even Saquon Barkley could not hold his excitement about the game. “I’ve been playing this game since I was 6, 7 years old? I’m just thankful, and I’m blessed to keep doing this, and now I have a chance to get paid well.” Barkley said right before the Eagles left the locker room for Brazil. But if Barkley is playing, you must be curious to know who will not be playing.

If not Saquon Barkley, which player will not be playing Eagles vs Packers?

It’s good news that Barkley is playing, but Devin White is out with an ankle injury. With White unavailable, Nakobe Dean and Zack Baun will start as linebackers. While Oren Burks, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., and Ben VanSumeren are placed on the backup list. White spent five seasons with the Buccaneers. Earning a Pro Bowl selection and helping them win a Super Bowl, before eventually losing his starting spot. But now, he’ll focus on rehabbing for Week 2 against Atlanta.

White is the only player on the 53-man roster who won’t be flying with the team on Wednesday. And the cornerback Isaiah Rodgers might be limited because of a hand injury. Whereas, guard Landon Dickerson and WR A.J. Brown will participate after resting on Tuesday. So, even if you’re missing some favorite players, there are still many on the field to make the game exciting.
