Looks like Miami’s playing the waiting game on their star running back Raheem Mostert—and it’s not looking great for this weekend. Head coach Mike McDaniel didn’t exactly lift spirits when he dropped the word that’s becoming all too familiar for the Phins fans.
Miami Dolphins reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques was the first to break the news on X: When asked about Mostert suiting up against Seattle, coach McDaniel dropped a classic “we’ll see,” but he’s leaning toward keeping the star RB out of action. The University of Miami alum David Furones doubled down, confirming that while the Dolphins’ HC isn’t ruling anything out just yet, he’s definitely “pessimistic” about Mostert making it on-field.

In a Friday press conference, Mike McDaniel hinted that Raheem Mostert’s chest injury, which kept him out of last week’s loss to the Bills, might sideline him again. Not the news Dolphins fans were hoping for, especially with the Seahawks allowing 4.7 yards per carry to opposing rushers (definitely not an iron wall defense).
The Purdue Boilermakers standout’s absence could shift even more weight onto rookie sensation De’Von Achane, who’s been on fire lately. In Week 2, Achane totaled a jaw-dropping 165 yards and a touchdown on 29 touches. With Mostert out, this could easily become the ‘Achane Show’ once again. Achane’s already locked in as an every-week elite RB1, and after his Week 2 performance, it’s hard to see the Phins messing with that flow.
RB2 Jeff Wilson was merely there to give Achane a breather last week. And while Wilson’s reliable, he’s far from an impact player in Mostert’s absence. To make matters worse, Jeff Wilson picked up a knock mid-game, which leaves Miami even thinner in the backfield. Jaylen Wright? He’s still not getting the trust from McDaniel to make any serious noise.
As for Raheem Mostert, it’s tough luck for fantasy managers hoping for him to reclaim that RB1 magic from 2023. With Achane taking over the backfield, the Pro Bowl champ might be more of a touchdown-or-bust RB3 when he returns. And with Skylar Thompson under center, defenses are bound to stack the box, making the run game tougher.
But hey, some good news: Terron Armstead’s set to play despite his shoulder injury, giving Miami’s O-line a crucial boost. At least one piece of the puzzle’s falling into place, even if the WR room’s still in limbo.
What’s your perspective on:
Can the Dolphins survive without Raheem Mostert against the Seahawks, or is this game already lost?

Terron Armstead’s ready, but Miami’s WR room is in limbo
Terron Armstead isn’t backing down. Despite hurting his shoulder against the Buffs, the Dolphins’ left tackle’s suiting up for Seattle. Armstead’s rocking a brace now, but he’s made it clear: “If I can, I always will try to play.” He tried to fight through it last week but knew it was game over when he couldn’t lift his arm.
The upside? Armstead’s injury is improving, and HC McDaniel isn’t sweating any long-term issues. Guard Robert Jones is also battling a shoulder injury but says he’s good to go, while Liam Eichenberg’s been practicing fully.
On the downside, WR Grant DuBose might be out with a shoulder issue, leaving the Phins scrambling to fill 45 offensive snaps from last week. Jonnu Smith, Braxton Berrios, or even rookie Malik Washington (if his quad holds up) could step in. There’s also a chance practice team guys Dee Eskridge or Erik Ezukanma might get the call.

On defense, rookie Storm Duck’s been active for games, while Ethan Bonner remains inactive. That decision definitely raised some eyebrows. With Armstead locking in for Sunday and the Dolphins shuffling their options, Miami will have to be creative to stay sharp against Seattle.
