It’s the kind of buzz that gets Cardinals fans holding their breath—Marvin Harrison Jr.’s game status for Week 7 is up in the air, and it’s keeping everyone on edge. As we inch closer to game day against the Chargers, the question remains: Will he suit up under the Monday night lights?
NFL insider Ian Rapoport fired up X with some encouraging words straight from Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon. Gannon delivered two solid updates for the team: First, Harrison Jr., although still in concussion protocol, will be practicing today (that’s a huge step toward clearing him for action). Second, RT Jonah Williams, who had everyone wondering if his season was over, is now likely to return to the lineup. “Two positive developments from #AZCardinals coach Jonathan Gannon: WR Marvin Harrison Jr., still in concussion protocol, will practice today. RT Jonah Williams is likely to return this season. His status had been up in the air,” Rapoport’s tweet read.

Harrison’s situation took a turn when he suffered a head injury last Sunday against Green Bay. As he hit the turf, his helmet collided with the defender’s thigh—and BAM, sidelined for the rest of the game. This ain’t something new for Arizona. The team saw TE Trey McBride also miss time after a similar concussion protocol last season. So, while Harrison’s status is still touch-and-go, the Cards aren’t hitting the panic button just yet.
The timing, though, might play in Arizona’s favor. With an extra day before their showdown with Las Vegas on Monday Night Football, Harrison’s got a bit more breathing room to get game-ready. The Cardinals need him, too. The young rookie’s snagged 17 catches for 279 yds and four TDs.
Adding some insurance, the team officially brought Zay Jones (fresh off suspension) back to their 53-man roster this week. Jones, despite a hamstring tweak, could be a vital cog in their receiving corps if Harrison can’t go.
NFL analyst Adam Rank’s take on the situation? Don’t sweat it over Harrison’s potential absence.

Fantasy football enthusiasts, take a deep breath—Adam Rank said there’s no need to hit the panic button over Harrison Jr. The rookie WR may have stumbled out of the gate in Week 1, but the NFL Network fantasy analyst’s confident there’s plenty of upside left in the season for the Cardinals’ No. 4 overall draft pick.
Harrison Jr. had a rough start, pulling in just one catch for four yards during Arizona’s 34-28 loss to the Buffs. That underwhelming performance left fantasy owners pretty frustrated. But as Rank put it to talkSPORT End Zone, he’s not sweating the rookie’s slow debut: “Not even a little bit.”

Rank believes the State Buckeyes’ product’s talent is undeniable and says patience is key. He pointed out that Kyler Murray missed a potential game-winning throw to a wide-open Harrison Jr. late in the contest—a moment that could’ve flipped the narrative completely. “The talent is too immense,” Rank emphasized, suggesting that Harrison’s slump is more about growing pains and less about capability.
With 16 games to go, there’s still a lot of football left for Marvin Harrison Jr. to shine.
