The Titan Up is fuming! There’s more to the 17-24 loss to the Jets that’s going to sting. Well, the Titans’ record after the opening 2 weeks is at 0-2. Secondly, the defeat was at the Nissan Stadium, courtesy of another week of Will Levis ‘trying too much’ with the pigskin. And HC Brian Callahan was having none of that!
It was only after the cameras caught Coach Callahan giving a mouthful to his QB Will Levis in the first half that he took the podium post-game and addressed it: “He [Will] has to protect our team better, has to protect the ball better… Cost us 3 points.” Brian did not hold back and even called it a ‘dumb’ play from Will, costing Tennessee vital points in the red zone.

What happened? We’ll break it down for you. There’s a reason for Brian’s frustration. You can decide if it’s justified or not. On a crucial third-and-goal, with the end zone just inches away, Levis scrambled out of the pocket but tripped. He fumbled the ball as he hit the turf, tossing the ball right into Jets LB Quincy Williams’ hands. Tough break for Will and his team. What could have extended the Titans’ lead to 10-0 early in the first half resulted in a ‘silly’ turnover.
To add fuel to the fire, this wasn’t Levis’ first slip-up. Instead, he made an amateur mistake for the second week in a row while playing pro football. That’s not what you want to hear about your QB. Hence why, you must have seen the viral video of Callahan mouthing off to Will, saying: “WTF are you doing?”
Last week, it was a pick-six against Chicago, and now this week’s fumble feels like a déjà vu. While it’s good that these issues are surfacing early, with the season moving fast, Will Levis needs to sort this out pronto.

Is Will Levis the right QB for the Titans, or is he costing them crucial games?
Have an interesting take?
If not for Brian Callahan’s sanity, then for his own spot on the roster, Will Levis has to solve his fumbling woes. If he cracks the code, he could lead the team to end zone celebrations, instead of costly red-zone turnovers. The signs are there — even today. But you’ve got to wonder, can he pull it together in time?
Levis was going down with no play on deck, but still tried to make magic happen — and paid the price with a rather costly turnover. ‘Only if’ he could have kept it simple. But that’s not how it works, does it? And Callahan’s reaction is enough of an answer in itself.
However, the signs we mentioned earlier showed up once Levis shook off that first-half mishap. In the second half? A whole new #8 stepped up, much like last week. Where his numbers — 59.4% completion, 124 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT — were there, but so was the fumbling.

Levis adjusted to the game’s pace, showing grit. He finished 19 of 28 for 192 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown dart to Calvin Ridley. Sure, there was a late interception when the Gang Green’s Brandin Echols ripped it from Treylon Burks, but you could see the progress.
He even led the Titans to the Jets’ 8-yard line but couldn’t seal the deal. A late surge? Definitely. But decision-making under pressure? Still shaky. Will Levis clean it up in Week 3? Let us know!
