Although the Eagles came away with a stunning victory in New Orleans last week, their offensive line took a massive hit as Lane Johnson left the field with a concussion. With Johnson leaving the game before halftime, Fred Johnson took his place in right tackle. However, he wasn’t the only injury that the Eagles suffered on the night. As the starting right guard, Mekhi Becton was deemed questionable to return after suffering a finger injury last Sunday.
But going to Tampa Bay this week, the Eagles may have received unexpected good news regarding Johnson’s availability. Reports coming out from Philadelphia have shown that Johnson is stretching with the Eagles in their build-up to the Buccaneers clash. Although he has remained a non-participant, at least his showing up means improvements are on the way.

With still two days to go, the Eagles remain hopeful regarding Johnson’s participation in Tampa Bay. Even though Johnson was spotted at the NovaCare Complex, WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were nowhere to be seen. This could be concerning as the Eagles find themselves short in the receiver room, going into the clash.
Britain Covey found himself placed in the injury reserve with a shoulder injury. This means Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson are the only ones available for the receiver position. But seeing their receiver depth in the practice squad with Parris Campbell, John Ross, DannyGray, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint and Kyle Phillips. The Eagles might call up someone, considering Ross was signed with the practice squad.
Well, the injury troubles for the Eagles don’t end there, as Darius Slay was seen doing light practice despite his knee injury. Becton, who left during the first half against the Saints with a finger injury, might return on Sunday with a cast on his finger. With Johnson slated to make his return in Tampa Bay, the Eagles are in for a massive boost. However, can they overcome their toughest challenge yet as Todd Bowles prepares Buccaneers for this Sunday?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the rejuvenated Eagles this week

Can the Eagles survive without Lane Johnson against the Buccaneers? What do you think?

Coming into Raymond James Stadium, the Buccaneers are 2-1 in their regular season, similar to this week’s opponent, the Eagles. Having lost to the Broncos 26-7, the Buccaneers would be hoping they can go back to winning against the Eagles. However, it wouldn’t be any easier as the Eagles nation is coming off a sensational victory in New Orleans.
Having managed to restrict the high-flying Saints to just 12 points last Sunday, the Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield seemingly praised the Eagles’ effort. “Obviously, you have to expect it. You have to expect that they’re coming off a big win in New Orleans and just the type of team they are,” Mayfield shared.

Well, Mayfield wasn’t the only one who sang praises of the Eagles as Bucs’ head coach Todd Bowles added, “I mean, they were already a good team before they got him. Once they got him- He’s one of the top two or three running backs in the league now.” Well, Barkley has been a revelation for the Eagles. His two late TDs against the Saints helped the Eagles come away with their second victory of the season.
However, will they be able to build on that momentum by scoring a victory over Tampa Bay? Or does the trip to the Buccaneers prove to be a challenge for the Eagles as both teams search for their third win of the season? Only time will tell, as this week’s NFL action is gearing up to be a close encounter.
