Is Justin Fields the key to the Bears' resurgence, or just another overhyped QB?

With the week 2 clash coming up against the Denver Broncos, the Steelers might have a situation on their hand. After leading Pittsburgh to their first win of the season, Justin Fields would be hoping he can continue his impressive showing. But Wilson might have a point to prove, as he returns to Denver after leaving the Mile High End last season.

However, Wilson’s revenge game against the Broncos might have to wait a little longer, as Ian Rapoport tweeted an important update. Based on the information offered by Mike Tomlin to reporters, the Steelers might be planning to start QB Justin Fields in Denver. Although Russell Wilson is feeling better from his calf injury suffered before the Week 1 clash against the Falcons. He is still being monitored with clearance yet to be given.

Offering us an update on Wilson’s calf injury, Tomlin stated, “He feels better today than he did over the weekend. And so what that means, I don’t know as we sit here today.” As things stand, Fields will be given the responsibility of leading the Steelers again next Monday. After, he showed his brilliance on the field against the Falcons by racking up 17-0f-23 passes with 156 passing yards and 14 carries. Although this brought the Steelers their first win of the new season, the race for starting QB is heating up.

Providing context behind the potential starting QB against the Broncos, Tomlin said, “As I sit here today, we’re preparing as if Justin is going to be our quarterback. I think that’s the appropriate way to do it. Speculation is a waste of time. Russell’s hurt. He’s not available to us.” But the Steelers head coach also added that they would continue monitoring Wilson’s injury while analyzing his participation each day.

Is Justin Fields the key to the Bears' resurgence, or just another overhyped QB?

Have an interesting take?

Well, Wilson is not the only player who might be missing out on the visit to Mile High End. As punter, Cam Johnston has been ruled out for the season after he suffered a knee injury late against the Falcons. Elsewhere, CB Darius Rush remains in concussion protocol suffered during the week 1 clash against Atlanta. Offensive Tackle Dan Moore would also be absent after his ankle injury that ended his season opener early.

Although multiple players would be out in week 2, rookie Roman Wilson and guard Isaac Seumalo might be in contention to face the Broncos. However, it remains to be seen how well the Steelers would be performing in a hostile environment, as Tomlin pointed out the crowd noise at Empower Field. Even though dark clouds are hovering above the Steelers’ camp, there could still be hope as Fields takes charge of the Steelers’ offense while Wilson continues his recovery.
