After suffering an MCL sprain in the opening week of the NFL regular season in Brazil. Packers QB Jordan Love was expected to miss three to six weeks of action on the field. But early signs of Green Bay have shown that Love could be back within two weeks after he was deemed questionable to play against the Titans on Sunday.

Well, how did that happen? Considering the 25-year-old returning to practice on Wednesday may have led people to question his availability. Even head coach Matt LaFleur was asked whether the Packers QB will play a part in Tennessee. However, LaFleur was rather cryptic in giving his response by nodding to the question. But when further questioned on whether the nod means yes, LaFleur said they are working on it.

Looking back at the seriousness of the injury, if Love did manage to return before his expected recovery date, it would be nothing sort of a miracle. While others contemplate his return to the gridiron, Love stated, “There’s a lot of boxes to check. What it feels like to take those drops, be in the live fire. The trainers are doing a good job of monitoring me and seeing how I’m doing and how I’m reacting to every play. They’ll be the ones to clear me when the time comes.”

With Love’s continued absence from the Packers’ lineup in their home opener against the Colts. They did manage to pull the victory relying upon their backup QB Malik Willis, who racked up 12-of-14 while scoring a TD to help Green Bay win 16-10. However, Willis wasn’t the only one who stepped up to the occasion. As the Packers’ rushing attack toyed with the Colts after recording 261 yards on 53 carries.

While Love’s availability is still a question mark for Green Bay, the Packers might have a backup ready to pounce upon the opportunity in Tennessee.

Malik Willis steps up in Jordan Love’s absence from injury

After getting picked in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Titans, Willis has struggled to land a starting place in the NFL. Having played just three games in his rookie year, Willis got his opportunity after Ryan Tannehill was injured. However, it didn’t plan out the way the Packers’ backup QB could have predicted. As a second-round rookie, Will Levis took his place in Tennessee, thereby leading him to look for options elsewhere.

When asked to comment about his match-up against former employers, Willis shared, “I think I got paid the whole time I was there, bro. I’m more than blessed for the opportunity they’ve given me. And they brought me into this league, you know, whether those guys are there or not. That organization, they took a shot on me, Miss Amy. They did a great job by me.” Since signing for the Packers this season, Willis got his chance against the Colts, where he ended up impressing heavily.

Last Sunday, the 25-year-old completed 12-of-14 passes for 122 yards while scoring a TD to help the Packers record their first win of the season. However, Willis did open up about the uncertainty regarding his place in the starting lineup amid Love’s possible return. “If Jordan does start, you didn’t when you’re going to go in when you have to go. You just got prepare as the starter regardless. And I think that’s the mindset you have, whether you’re starting or not starting,” Willis expressed.

As we can continue to calculate the possible scenarios surrounding Love’s return to action. They might have found someone in Green Bay who can lead without a considerable drop in play actions. However, will it continue as the games come thick and fast while the battle for a playoff berth heats up in the NFL?
