John Harbaugh and Jim Harbaugh are the first coaching brothers in NFL history and one of the most successful ones in Gridiron. One already holds the position of the greatest Ravens’ coach ever, the other is making his legacy in NCAA after a short yet successful stint in the NFL.
And the latter’s success with the Wolverines has not gone unnoticed back in the NFL. There are reportedly multiple franchises running after Jim in the offseason. Last time it was the Har-Bowl that pretty much broke the then-49ers head coach’s NFL, how close is he this time to joining his brother in the league?

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that two vacant NFL franchises are prioritizing Harbaugh. They are the Chargers and the Antonio Pierce-led Raiders. Unlike the Chargers, the Raiders are doing quite decent under the defensive coordinator’s guidance. But owner Mark Davis wants the Wolverines’ head coach to provide long-term stability.
The Chargers are casting a wide net for their coaching option and that means looking at every option.

Interestingly, Jim Harbaugh himself has made it clear quite a few times that the Bears will be the only job he’ll ever take up in the NFL if his Wolverines’ days come to an end. Harbaugh’s best NFL days as a player arguably came with the Bears, whom he played for 7 seasons after getting drafted in the first round by the franchise in 1987.
It will be interesting to see how the HC reacts to the news, but it’s not surprising given his NCAA success and the NFL sides’ conditions.

The Chargers are looking to invest in an experienced name after the Brandon Staley lesson, as reported by Russini. The Raiders’ owner Mark Davis reportedly also informed her that he wanted to get his hands on Harbaugh in 2015 before he joined the Wolverines. Atop everything, the HC deeply connects with Chicago where he is still loved. So it might take him some time to decide his next destination in the NFL, if any. But is that happening this offseason?
Since leaving the 49ers in 2014, Harbaugh has been quite comfortably the greatest coach in the league. He has given the side five 10-win seasons and two playoff semifinals. The current Big Ten leaders are once again chasing for the CFP National Championship, trying to break the lock for the first time since 1997. And this might be the best team the HC has ever assembled in Michigan, with a 14-0 record. That being said, Harbaugh’s maiden NCAA title is looking more probable than not. But what if it wasn’t to be?

Unlike the NFL, Harbaugh wouldn’t want to keep the business unfinished in the NCAA. If the Wolverines fall any short of the CFP National Championship, there’s a chance that he won’t answer the NFL call for at least one more year. But that’s still just a speculation.
