The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a terrible start to their season. At 4-0, they’re the only team not to have won a single game yet. With their upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts, will they have a chance to turn things around? With their injury wracked team and a lack of confidence in their coach, things aren’t looking great. Of course, this isn’t the first losing streak the Jaguars have been looking down the barrel of. Towards the end of last season, despite sitting pretty at 8-3, the Jaguars suffered a 4 game losing streak that eventually ended their season 9-8. They would miss the playoffs.
In positive news though, tight end Evan Engram might make the game on Sunday, though it’ll be a game-time decision. The 30-year old was called up for limited practice of Thursday, though he was absent altogether on Wednesday. He’s been on Injured Reserve since Week 2 with a hamstring injury, and will be itching to get back by now.

Engram has been with the Jaguars since 2022, having first played with the New York Giants for 4 years. On the 0-Zone Podcast, he revealed Doug Pederson was a huge part of the reason he wanted to come to the Jaguars. 2022 is of course the same year Pederson started coaching the Jaguars, he was head coach of the Eagles before. Pederson’s use of tight ends with the Eagles is what sparked Engram’s interest. “I saw the situation. I saw Doug and the staff he had put together and the history he has had with tight ends. Tight ends like myself have been successful in his system,” he said during the podcast.

In other news, safety Darnell Savage Jr. and linebacker Devin Lloyd are both expected to play on Sunday. Savage had suffered a quadriceps injury during the Week 1 game, and Lloyd had missed the Week 4 game due to a knee injury. With a fuller Jacksonville Jaguars roster, they might be hoping to put up a fight against the Indianapolis Colts.
Should the Jaguars be worried about the Colts?
A victory against the Colts will put the Jaguars at a straight 10 game losing streak under Trevor Lawrence. How do you even revive a team’s spirit after that point? After such a crushing start, it’s tough to imagine their coach can get much out of them. Past a certain point, Doug Pederson’s going to have his work cut out saving his own damn hide. Ownder Shahid Khan has been a bit cryptic about what he expects from the team, but winning ought to be on the menu, ideally. So, they better take the Colts seriously, they have no option.

What’s your perspective on:
Can Evan Engram's return be the game-changer the Jaguars need against the Colts this week?
Have an interesting take?
At 2-2, the Colts might not look too threatening at first, but that’s ignoring their startling performance last week. With their starting quarterback injured, 39-year-old Joe Flacco led the Colts to a close win over the then-undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers. The Colts’ team played in perfect symphony. With the form they’re at now, it’s not looking good for the Jags. We’ll just have to tune in on Sunday to see how they fare.
