Will the Browns struggle without Deshaun Watson in their Week One clash with the Cowboys?

Browns QB Deshaun Watson was all set to play against the Cowboys in his season opener after coming back from an arm injury. But something terrible happened that might have changed the course of his appearance in the week 1 showdown at Huntington Bank Field. Taking to his Instagram, Watson decided to share a message that could change his life forever.

Announcing his father’s Don Richardson tragic demise, Watson shared, “Rest in Peach Pops.” These four words are enough for us to understand the devastation Watson could be going through at this time. Although Watson has spent the majority of his life and childhood without his father, the Browns QB continues to express his condolences.

Remembering his father’s memories, Watson expressed his thoughts back in 2017 while appearing in the Houston Chronicle for an interview. When asked the number of times Watson has seen his father, the Browns QB replied, “Maybe five” times. Continuing on his childhood memories, Watson shared the importance of his mother in his life.

“My mom was basically my mother and father, so I don’t really pay too much attention to it, “shared the three-time Pro Bowler. It would be a huge miss if the Browns are unable to field Watson, who missed the preseason finale against the Seahawks, citing an arm soreness. After being involved in full practice, it remains to be seen whether he can make it in time.

Deshaun Watson’s expectations going into the new season

Entering his third year with the Browns, Watson is yet to play more than six games a season. Citing injuries and suspensions over the years, his time in Cleveland hasn’t gone too well. For the 12 games he played for the franchise, Watson racked up 2,217 passing yards and 14 touchdowns while going for 8-4. With expectations lower than ever with the Browns heading into the new season, Watson stated, “It’s fine with us. It’s perfect. We’re just going to go under the radar and work. That’s all we can do.”

Speaking about his chances going into his fourth year with the Browns, Watson shared, “Honestly, man, I don’t even look at those six starts. It’s a new year, it’s a new season. You’ve got to focus on Week 1. In this system and this league, if you are focusing on last year, you’re going to get left behind.” Browns would be hoping Watson’s possible return into the season opener on Monday can help them mount a strong start to the season.

However, the recent tragedy surrounding his family might have changed the QB’s plans before stepping into a new season. Only time will help whether Watson continues his involvement or takes some time out, citing family issues.
