Can the Raiders survive without Davante Adams against the Browns, or is this game already lost?

The Raiders’ injury report came out with bad news. Along with players like Divine Deablo, Thayer Munford, and Kolton Miller, two key players-WR Davante Adams and DE Maxx Crosby, are also out for the next game.

Adams is dealing with a hamstring injury, while Crosby is out due to an ankle injury. Coach Antonio Pierce informed reporters that the WR and DE would not play against Brown because of their injuries. This has shocked fans as players were important for a 2-2 victory over the Browns in week 4. Sunday will be the first time Crosby has missed a game in his career, after 86 consecutive games since 2019.

On the other hand, Adams’ absence has affected the Raiders, who were already short on defensive ends after losing Malcolm Koonce for the season to a torn ACL. Now, the pressure falls on Jakobi Myers, Tre Tucker, and DJ Turner. Coach Antonio Pierce admitted he wasn’t sure how long Adams would be sidelined but made it clear that he doesn’t want “anyone to be Davante Adams. There’s only one.” He further stated he needs “the best versions of Jakobi, Tre, DJ, and the rest of the receivers,” urging them to step up and play as a team.

Adams, one of the NFL’s top receivers, has had a tough start to the season with only 209 receiving yards and a single touchdown in three games. He had a standout performance in Week 2 with 110 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Ravens but managed just 40 yards against the Panthers and 59 against the Chargers.

But the dilemma here is will Myers be as good as Adams in only his second year as a starter.

Will Myers be able to fill Davante Adams’ absence?

Have an interesting take?

Meyers had his best game of the 2024 season in Week 3, catching seven passes on nine targets for 62 yards and a touchdown, all-season highs for him. He seems to be building good chemistry with quarterback Gardner Minshew, making him a solid fantasy option with Davante Adams out.

But matching Davante’s experience and his history with Raiders’ QBs like Derek Carr of 100 receptions for 1516 yards and his 2023 coordination with Aidan and Jimmy might be tough for Jacobi.

Although this isn’t Meyers’ first time stepping up as a starter. He took on the role in 2023 and said then, “I’m just hoping he’s healthy. He brings a lot to this team. We appreciate him, and we just want him to be back to himself.” While Meyers hasn’t made any comments this year, he may be ready to prove himself again.
