Can the 49ers afford to risk McCaffrey in Week One, or should they play it safe?

The 2024 season has just started and there have already been plenty of injuries. Christian McCaffrey got injured in early August. This forced him to stay out of action for all of pre-season and also miss the training camp in the process of healing. But how far has he come in making progress?

Fans of the San Francisco 49ers will be delighted to know that there is a positive update available on McCaffrey and his potential to show up during his team’s season-opener against the New York Jets. Turns out, the running back has been practicing as of late.

For most of the training camp, McCaffrey had to stay out because of his injury. He strained his calf and also endured the infamous Achilles’ injury. Although both of these are pretty common in the world of football, McCaffrey still needed proper rest to recover for the better. Hence the break during the preseason. But it seems like he will be back soon.
