Is benching Richardson a smart move, or are the Colts playing it too safe with Flacco?

Anthony Richardson is currently the center of attention for all Colts fans. The quarterback who sustained an oblique injury is expected to return against the Titans, but his return is still not 100% confirmed. Richardson spent the whole week practicing on the field, but his chances remain uncertain. The fans have been waiting patiently for an answer from the team, and it appears that they have received it.

For those who don’t know the most recent updates and reports, Anthony Richardson will not be the team’s starting quarterback. Yes, you heard it correctly. These reports have told us that Joe Flacco will enter the gridiron to lead the Colts against the Titans, with Richardson serving as a backup for the time being. The context is that the quarterback is medically cleared, but team management does not want to take any risks. For these reasons, he is serving as a backup this week and may return for the Colts in the following game.

It is well known how this matchup is critical for the Colts given their present position in the season. They need to win the game by a large margin to get some much-needed momentum. On the other hand, the Titans not having a strong record against the Colts will work as a cherry on top for them. If we look at the all-time record, the teams have met each other 59 times, with the Colts leading with 37 victories. Although this is a positive thing, it is safe to say that Anthony Richardson’s absence may have an impact on the team’s psychological integrity.

Aside from these elements, let’s take a look at their starting QB for the game Joe Flacco and how is his record against the Titans.

Is Joe Flacco better than Anthony Richardson against the Titans?

Well! Nothing, in particular, can be answered about this question because the stats of both players are insufficient to assess the two of them. For those who do not know, Anthony Richardson has only faced the Titans once in his career, but he stood tall that day. Flacco, on the other side, has faced the team six times, winning three games and losing three.
