Can the Eagles afford to risk A.J. Brown's health for a game against the Falcons?

Philly’s offense is about to get a jolt! With Monday Night Football is on the horizon, Eagles fans are sweating over WR AJ Brown’s status. The Ole Miss Rebels standout was a no-show at practice, and now his availability for Atlanta is anyone’s guess.

Philadelphia’s reporter Jeff McLane tweeted that HC Nick Sirianni said Brown “got a little tight” in his hamstring during Friday’s practice. Falcons’ HC further clarified, “He got a little tight in practice, and we backed him off. See how today goes.” Even with all the precautions, the three-time Pro Bowl champ not showing up for practice’s definitely got people talking.

After AJ Brown tweaked his hamstring on Friday, the Eagles’ Monday night game prep took a hit. Fans are on edge over this last-minute injury update. Week 1, Brown was a beast. Five catches, 119 yards, and a jaw-dropping 67-yard TD against the Packers—impeccable! With two straight 1,400-yard seasons, he’s Philly’s secret weapon. If Brown’s out, things are about to get real interesting.

Coach Sirianni gave props to the veteran despite keeping mum about the injury details. “He’s worked his butt off,” the Falcons’ HC asserted. “He’s obviously a very talented player. We’ll see how that goes. I know guys are ready when they’re called upon. Everybody will be ready to go if need be.”

If Brown can’t go, the Eagles will rely on other weapons. But who will the next man be?

If AJ Brown can’t go, who will suit up?

If AJ Brown’s unable to play, Philly can go for their top WRs: DeVonta Smith and Jahan Dotson will become Philly’s top receivers.

Have an interesting take?

Smith’s no stranger to stepping up in the clutch. Remember last year’s Week 1? Damn. Five catches and a TD. His 1000-yard seasons are anyway a norm now. In total, Smith snagged 81 passes for 1,066 yards and 7 TDs in 16 games. The Alabama standout also had a notable performance in the playoffs with eight catches for 148 yards, even in a tough Wild Card loss.

Then we have Jahan Dotson. After the Eagles traded for him on Aug. 22, Dotson saw limited action in the opener, playing just 32 snaps and not recording a reception. He still hasn’t shown himself, though. Coach Sirianni’s pretty confident in Dotson’s readiness, saying, “He’s talented. I’ve got confidence in him.” With more prep and practice, Jahan Dotson could definitely step up if needed.

If Brown’s hamstring hinders him, Smith and Dotson could provide a serious boost to Philly’s passing game. Be it Smith’s steady play or Dotson’s breakout potential, let’s see how the game shapes up.
