Chiefs’ stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are no strangers to the golf course. They competed together in The Match VIII last year, but now they have a challenge from professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau. Mahomes has already agreed to it, but it could leave Brittany’s plans of spending more time with her husband before the NFL season in jeopardy.

After DeChambeau won the 124th U.S. Open Golf Championship, Patrick Mahomes, being an avid golf connoisseur, couldn’t hold back from congratulating the winner. This led to an exchange, and we might see them compete in a Break 50 challenge.

When Bryson DeChambeau won the championship, Mahomes gave his felicitations to him on X by saying, “GREAT bunker shot!” Just two days later, the QB got himself a challenge. The U.S. Open Golf Champion didn’t hold himself back and invited Mahomes and Kelce to a game, saying, “You, me, and Trav Break 50, let’s go!”

Moments later, the Super Bowl LVIII winner accepted the challenge in his reply to DeChambeau, while tagging Travis Kelce for this one. “Let’s do it! @tkelce,” wrote Mahomes on X.

For the unversed, Break 50 is a reference to amateur golfers playing nine holes in less than 50 strokes, an average of between five and six shots per hole. But DeChambeau, as mentioned, is a pro, so why the Break 50? Well, he has his own version of it.

On his YouTube channel, the American golfer posts videos of challenges that he participates in with his guests. In his Break 50 challenge, one of the regular features of his YT videos, he and the other person attempt to complete 18 holes in under 50 shots. But how do DeChambeau’s challenge and Patrick Mahomes’ readiness affect Brittany’s plans?

For now, Mahomes is on the road for a vacation with his wife, but the QB’s antics might get in the way and might hinder them from enjoying their time together to the fullest.

The Chiefs start their open practice on July 21, and it will conclude on August 15, which doesn’t leave much time for the QB to stay actively involved with his family before the new season kicks off on September 5.

Patrick Mahomes being keen to take a swing at golf shouldn’t be surprising. Alongside his Chiefs teammate, Travis Kelce, he competed in The Match VIII, an exhibition golf event, in June last year. The Super Bowl-winning duo defeated Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Earlier this year as well, the quarterback hosted a golf tournament during his foundation’s charity event in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Brittany shared glimpses of her trip in her June 19 Instagram story. She’s sitting comfortably in her car, holding her HydroJug, and sipping on her favorite drink. The story was captioned, “Off to our trip and you know I got my @hydrojug.” So, it is possible that Patrick may join DeChambeau and Kelce only after his vacation with his family is over.

But how long exactly will the couple be gone? Brittany Mahomes spilled the details in an earlier Instagram story.

Brittany Mahomes mentions the duration of their vacation before the NFL training starts

The QB’s wife took to IG Stories on June 16 and shared a couple of dresses and accessories that she’s packing for the trip. The picture shows tons of clothes, sneakers, and boots, mostly in red and white, the Chiefs’ colors. The wardrobe is impressive, but not as impressive as their dog Steel, who has its paw on Brittany’s stomach and is looking at her like he’s already tired.

Brittany highlighted her distractions, saying, “Ask me about packing for a 4-week trip.” The 28-year-old also showed off her incredible boots and shoe collection in the post. Given the time period mentioned by Brittany, she will have around a month with her husband before he heads to the Chiefs training camp.

In between all this and the new NFL season, Patrick will have to find time to take on DeChambeau’s Break 50 challenge. Will it come at the expense of some family time? That remains to be seen.
