Saints vs Eagles Week 3 game was not less than a battle royale. While the NFL gridiron turned into a war zone, the match-up turned out to be both, emotional and physical! And as the plot thickened, the Saints lost the game. Well, not only the game, but one of their player even lost money!

The NFL fined Saints OT Trevor Penning an amount of $11,255 for unnecessary roughness. Now, what does that mean? Well, the player had to pay the piper for blocking Eagles CB Darius Slay aggressively in the fourth quarter. As per NFL Insider Tom Pelissero’s X post, “The NFL fined Saints OT Trevor Penning $11,255 for unnecessary roughness — blocking Eagles CB Darius Slay all the way into the bench last week.”

During the game, Penning could be seen countinously blocking Slay out of bounds. And if that was not enough, he also pushed the CB into the bench area but injuring his leg. Now, that’s definitely not a ‘Saints’ behaviour! While Penning obviously received a flag for his actions, Slay couldn’t make it back to the game. However, the CB mentioned that if the injury had occurred earlier in the game, he would have pushed through and continued playing.

Fortunately, he has recovered and is all in to play against the Bucs. While the player has bounced back, he says something interesting about the fine implemented on Penning. “I don’t like seeing people get their money took, but I’m sure there’s probably going to be one in there, but I don’t like seeing people get their money took,” Darius stated. Well, apart from losing money, the Saints’ player is even facing harsh criticism!

Former Saints player criticizes Trevor Penning’s dirty game

Trevor Penning already has a stain in his record for cheap gaming tactics. And now, the Week 3 game has tarnished his name even more! While Darius criticised Penning for his hit and said, “It could have been a clean play, he just made it a bad play has even,” the whole NFL world has raised eyebrow at the OT’s dirty game!

Well, the teams’ aggressive strategy has got even former Saints player CJ Gardener Johnson talking. He criticised the whole team’s dirty performance and attacked them. The Eagles safety expressed, “Man, that’s the dirtiest s—- I ever saw in football, bro.”

While the game was fierce and intense, it slipped of hands wheen Penning crossed his line! However, amid all the tension going on between the biggest rivals, Saints HC got no pressure on him! Instead, Saints HC was in protective mode to save his squad.

Dennis Allen said, “Our guys play extremely hard. We’re going to compete until the down is ov0er. I don’t think we play dirty. That’s not the way we teach it. But we do play hard.” During all the allegations of dirty game, the coach mentioned that Saints do not play dirty, instead they play hard. And that’s not all! He even continued to say that Penning surely needs to work on his awareness during the games.

Well, Trevor Penning’s one wrong move has definitely put the entire Saints team under hot water. With the rest of the season still ahead, it’s going to be interesting to see if Penning can keep his cool under all this pressure.
