Is Aaron Rodgers‘ successor better than him? The four-time MVP left the Green Bay Packers last year after finding his new home in the New York Jets. After his exit, people doubted Jordan Love whether he could fill in the shoes of Rodgers for the Packers or not. However, the Packers did quite well last season under Love, and the team eventually reached the playoffs.
But in Rodgers’ case, it was quite different. Although he was traded to bring Super Bowl LVIII to the Jets’ home after 54 years, he had to leave the season abruptly with an Achilles injury. So, the present comparisons might be unfair between the two. However, Colin Cowherd has two major factors revealing why Love is currently better than the Jets’ QB, Rodgers.
Has Jordan Love surpassed Aaron Rodgers?

While Aaron Rodgers is known for his iconic Lambeau Leaps, Jordan Love has yet to attempt one. But according to Colin Cowherd, the QB has leaped in the rankings in comparison with Rodgers. In a recent episode of The Colin Cowherd Podcast, host Cowherd expressed two major factors, “I like Jordan Love. By Thanksgiving of the first year it was like and I really believe this, is he better than Aaron right now? He’s way more athletic.” Chiming in the statement, his guest host, John Middlekauff too, agreed with Cowherd, saying “100%”. He highlighted that Rodgers didn’t perform well the previous year for the Packers, which may have influenced his perspective.
Cowherd compared Love’s situation to past instances where a backup quarterback outperformed the starter, such as in the case of Aaron himself during the time of Brett Favre, or replacing Peyton Manning by Andrew Luck. He emphasized, “Jordan love’s better right now, and I don’t think that’s a hot take.” According to the hosts, Love’s performance last season (4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 touchdowns) made him the better option.
Although the Packers’ torch has been passed to able hands of Love from A-Rod, the friendship between the two hasn’t faded amidst their comparisons.

Jordan Love spent three years behind Aaron Rodgers after being drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. During this time, he developed a strong bond with Rodgers. Love mentioned on The Thanalysis Show podcast that they had a great relationship, which is natural when spending long hours together in the quarterback room.
Rodgers also confirmed in November that he still communicates with Love via messages, parsing his performance after a game against the Detroit Lions. Love showed his potential as a starter in 2023, throwing for over 4000 yards and leading the Packers to a playoff victory.
