The season has arrived! But a cold NFL opener turns stormy for the Kansas City Chiefs. After it was reported that the AFC Championship rematch was in for somewhat tricky weather, it has been blown out of the way with the latest update.
Arrowhead has delayed the NFL’s season opener between the Ravens and Chiefs amidst heavy lightning. The arrowhead board displays, “Please be advised that due to pending weather conditions, all event/game activities will be interrupted. GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium asks that all guests make their way to the concourses and out of the elements and follow the direction of stadium staff, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium apologizes for the inconvenience and will inform you when it is safe to return to your seat. Thank you.”
So, when will the game start? Well, according to NFL reporter, Dov Kleiman, the “Kickoff for the #Ravens vs. #Chiefs game is now scheduled for 8:40 pm ET.” That means, the authorities have delayed the matchup by about 1 hour and 40 mins, as the game was originally about to start at 7:20 p.m. ET.

Nevertheless, fans are eagerly waiting for their favorites to come in and take up the GEHA Field. But this delay is also reminding them of the days that happened earlier too in NFL history. Yes! This wasn’t the first time. A match between the two franchises has been delayed. Almost a decade ago in 2013, Ravens faced a similar headache. While, for the Chiefs, the delay was more recent in 2019.
So, now the question is: when the game will start, who has the higher chances to win in such conditions?

As the rains are taking up the stage currently, fans are eager to know which team can win in such conditions. Well the answer to this is that it remains to be seen, but let’s not forget that the Baltimore Ravens are known for their solid performance in rainy conditions. In 22 games where rain was a factor, they “averaged 26.6 points and won over 75% of those matchups, making them the second- best team (after Seahawks) in wet weather.” These games typically had temperatures around 71.5°F, and the rain didn’t slow them down.

On the other hand, the Kansas City Chiefs have also proven themselves in the rain. In 19 rainy games, they scored an “average of 23.3 points, earning them the fifth spot for playing well in such conditions.” Both teams have shown they can handle the challenges that come with wet weather, but the Ravens have a slight edge when it comes to excelling in the rain.
