The battle was about to begin. The Baltimore Ravens were ready to take up their home field against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, something happened at that moment, which later prompted head coach John Harbaugh and the team to make a strong decision on their new wide receiver.
Diontae Johnson joined the Ravens due to a mid-season trade with the Carolina Panthers. However, his lack of interest in the team was clearly seen in a couple of games. As a result, according to NFL reporter Adam Schefter, “Ravens are suspending WR Diontae Johnson for one game for conduct detrimental to the team.”
So, this means, “Baltimore is on its bye this week, meaning Johnson will be out for next week’s game at the Giants.” But the question is what he did do? Well, as per the reporter, John Harbaugh’s Ravens and its “EVP and GM Eric DeCosta announced that Johnson’s one-game suspension stemmed from the wide receiver refusing to enter Sunday’s game against the Eagles.”

Yes! The wideout didn’t play for a single snap despite being active in the game. In fact, the 28-year-old had his most active game in a Ravens uniform during Week 9 against the Broncos. There he stepped up to play about 30% of the offensive snaps. But since then, it’s been a quiet journey.
Heading into the Eagles matchup, Diontae Johnson’s stat line reads just one catch on five targets for six yards across four games. So, any coach would not want to keep him on the roster. For instance, after Rashod Bateman suffered a knee injury in the third quarter, John Harbaugh was forced to bring a wideout for the remainder of the game. But he didn’t choose Johnson to join the team. That means the tension is building up for sure!
What did coach John Harbaugh say about Diontae Johnson?
John Harbaugh left fans with more questions than answers when asked about Diontae Johnson’s future. He, in a press conference, said, “At this time, I’m going to have to wait just to clarify it. There’s some moving parts there that we’re going to have to figure out and explore and just see where we’re at.”

Clearing his point further, the HC said, “I know that’s not the answer you want, but that’s the best I can do in fairness to everybody right now. We’ll just work it out [and] see where we’re at over the next few days this week.” So, it’s a waiting game now, and the uncertainty is palpable.
The former Pro Bowler Diontae Johnson once led Carolina‘s receiving corps with 357 yards and three touchdowns. But in Baltimore, his role feels up in the air. Nobody knows what’s cooking in his mind!
