With decades of intense competition and regional pride since their first game in the late 1960s, the clash of the titans remains a highlight of the NFL calendar!

To add more drama to one of the most awaited games, the Atlanta Falcons are bringing back a fan-favorite look this Sunday. Yes, you read it right! These men in red will honor the Falcons’ history and give fans a dose of nostalgia. These helmets have been a hit ever since the NFL lifted its one-helmet rule in 2022, letting teams reintroduce alternate helmet designs. And that is where the Atlanta Falcons got the chance to embrace their history. Two years back, the team switched from black to red helmets for just one game. And guess what? Fans loved it so much that the team decided to bring them back for three games in 2023. But that’s not all!

The Falcons actually suited up in red helmets for over two decades. From wearing the red color in 1966 for the first time to bidding it goodbye in 1989, the team decided to go all black on its 25th anniversary. However, the red color has always stayed as an emotion for the Atlanta Falcons and the fans!

Even players love seeing themselves in red! Falcons safety Erik Harris stated, “I think anytime you can wear any type of throwback and you see the guys that came before you; Hall of Famers and really good players, it’s pretty cool that you can wear that same uniform, especially the red ones.” The combination of dewy-eyed memories and the battle royale is surely the one to watch. But, with fans so excited for the weekend matchup, are the Dirty Birds ready for the battle of the ages?
