Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy’s exciting off-season milestone! The first-round pick of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs recently made waves for orchestrating a heartwarming proposal for his girlfriend, Tia Jones. Tia Jones has been running track and field since she was a child, and she became a professional athlete directly out of high school. Eleven years ago, in 2013, she was named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after winning the 13-14 girl 100-meter and 200-meter hurdles and breaking national and Junior Olympic records in both events at the USATF National Junior Olympics Track & Field Championships.

Apart from that, Xavier Worthy’s fiancée also excelled at the 2016 USA Junior Championships at the age of 15. In this event, she clocked 12.84 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, equalling Aliuska López’s world junior record set in 1987.

Earlier this year, the 2x World U20 champion, Jones, suffered an ACL injury that led to her withdrawal from the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships, which took place between March 1–3, 2024, at the Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. This was not the only setback the 1x World U20 Championships bronze medalist had to face.

The national indoor champion did not secure a coveted spot on the US team for the Olympic Games, crushing her Olympic dreams. NFL WR’s future wife could not qualify for the semifinals, finishing fourth with a time of 12.90 at the Paris Olympic Trials in the 100-meter hurdles, thus leading her out of the Olympic Games.

However, Xavier Worthy’s would-be wife has demonstrated great tenacity in her return to competition. Her spectacular journey, like Worthy’s budding NFL career, is a narrative of resilience and mutual achievement. According to their first Instagram post shared on May 17, Jones was spotted attending Worthy’s draft party in April.
