After playing for 9 years in the league, CB Steven Nelson finally decided to hang his cleats and retire from the game of football. Now, the veteran can finally turn his undivided attention to his family as he steps away from the gridiron to spend time at his farm in Montgomery, Texas which he runs with the help of his wife, Monica Nelson.

The retired CB also has a young daughter, and he often posts pictures with her on social media showing their outings and game days. While information about his family is scarce, we all know that the Nelson family is small, tight-knit, and prefers to live in the peace of nature.

Monica, the CB’s wife and support system, is rarely seen with him on the field or on his social media platform. The only insight into their bond is their shared passion for the growth of their farm. Besides his obvious love for football, Nelson has a love for nature and sustainable living. Perhaps that’s why he’s fully focused on his farm. “Steven and his wife, Monica, started Nelson Farms to live a more sustainable life and to share that vision with their kids,” says the website about the family’s foray into the venture.

On the same website, a sweet picture of Nelson with his wife and family can be seen, which might easily be a slight window into their beautiful relationship. While Nelson and his wife grab each other by the waist, their daughter can be seen grabbing the ex-Texans CB’s leg as she looks genuinely happy to be spending time with her parents.

The CB is rocking traditional Texas attire, wearing a Cowboys hat, and a bolo tie. “Nelson Farms is the home of Steven Nelson, NFL cornerback for the Texans, and his family, where they raise animals and grow food, host events, and teach others about sustainable living,” says the description of the website to allow readers insight into their work.

The farm organizes tours, grows a variety of fruits and veggies, and has typical animals that can be seen on a farm like lambs, cows, chickens, and a lot of other animals. The Nelson family has made their farm accessible to the people for a fee, as they also sell merch like hats, t-shirts, and other accessories under the guidance of Steven and Monica.

Other than their own interest in the field building up from the Pandemic days, it is their daughter who thoroughly enjoys the experience of being out there on the farm. “My daughter loves it,” Nelson said in an interview surrounding his farming experience. “She wants to be out here all the time with me.”

It is this dedication and words of admiration for the nature of the CB that makes one believe that he has his plans set for his exit from the NFL.

The retired CB finished his 9-season career with 115 starts, 13 interceptions, and 78 passes deflected. His departure from the Steelers continues to remain a point of debate to this day, though the cornerback has some reassurance to offer to himself concerning the same. “A good laugh at is like. Ever since I left, they ain’t found a corner yet. They’re still searching. High and low, they’re searching for mother******s,” Nelson said, commenting on the unfortunate exit.

Life away from the gridiron might not be as tense or adrenaline-pumped for the newly-retired star, but the former CB has his farm and family to bring him the joy of ease, and retiring at 31 isn’t all that bad with the right time investments to look ahead at.
